Yesterday was the NHRDA nationals at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton. This was probably not the best place to go health wise as I'm still picking black soot boogers and I feel like I chain smoked a carton of cigarettes but like always it was a total blast.
I consider myself somewhat environmentally conscious and rolling coal is not usually my thing. But once a year I put my environmental beliefs aside and appreciate theses monsters for what they are.
There is just something about an 8000lbs truck pulling a 10second quarter mile that will make you forget all about saving baby seals.

This one caught my eye from far away.
This lowered F250 was awesome but it was only 2WD. All thats missing is some bitching wheels.
These wheels were pretty damn deep dished
Cummins swapped vintage Ford in BROWN!
I would love one of these in good shape. These old f350's with the trusty international 7.3L powerstroke you can't go wrong, probably my favorite truck of all times.
This first gen cummins was nothing to sneeze at either
A Caddy STS-V I spotted in the pits
Not diesel powered but this old ford has a Twin Turbo LS under the hood and was pulling 9 second quarters
Gas Powered Turbo Malibu Wagon anyone?
"Thats quite the snail you got there." This turbo was at least 14" in diameter
This was my favorite truck of the day. This caddy Escalade had a Twin Turbo Duramax under the hood. This could surprise a few Camaros at the lights. In the words of Adam Ferrara "The big girl can run."

Those are some pretty awesome pictures. Diesel drag trucks carry a sense of intimidation pretty well. But I wonder how many brodozers were in the parking lot that have either A never been off road or B never been on a strip before.

The parking lot was easily 80% brodozers. My little Ford Fusion felt out of place.

You got that right. any other day I would tell you that these trucks are useless wasteful pigs and that daily drivers should be somewhat fuel efficient. There is nothing I hate seeing more than 1 guy in a lifted truck commuting to an office job.
And I truly feel that a truck like this can do everything 80% of truck buyers actually need.

except most people buy a truck as there family vehicle now. It's used to be Dad had his truck for work, and Mom had a car to carry the family. Now either Mom/or Dad lives two states away. so one car has to do two jobs. I just made myself sad. d

In Alberta it's more like dad has a lifted Ford F450 Dually and commutes 40 mins each way to his office job and Mom has a Cadillac Escalade ESV and she is a stay at home mom and they only have 1 kid. WHY DO YOU NEED AN 8 PASSENGER SUV IN YOU ONLY HAVE ONE KID???

there's a slammed dually 350 that drives around my area with similar 6 inch spikes on the lugs. Not sure where the line of fashionable and dangerous is drawn.
