This morning:

Kinja'd!!!

This evening:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Spent the day dismantling my brother's old '69 Special. 250,000 miles and the floors were rotten, it needed way too much work to save. Sad day, he's had the car since 1988 and my grandmother bought it new. Lots of family memories in the car.

Hopefully we will get enough money from the bumpers and other good parts to cover the cost of retrofitting his fuel injected motor into my '73 LeSabre. The most expensive purchase so far was the new in-tank fuel pump conversion kit.

On a good note, I had the presence of mind to start and finish the job ON the trailer. It's really, REALLY hard to get a car onto the trailer with no wheels!

Sorry to hear that. But the motor still lives on; it's what drove those memories, and it'll continue to drive new ones into the future. :)

So are you selling that car?

If somebody really wants it. It's got 250,000 miles and needs floors (passenger and trunk) badly, control arms, rear frame is very very thin, and we've been pushing 800 lb ft of torque through it for about 20 years now. Plus it sat for about 6 years and has a lot of green on the interior.

Know somebody who wants the body and frame? It's totally undamaged and looks okay from 10 feet, but it's got a lot of bondo under the skin. It won't be expensive, that's for sure.

We were planning to sell off all the crazy speed parts we took out and junk the shell.

We are just north of Boston MA. The shell has no value that we know of... crazy cheap? No motor, the engine is a 455 w crazy custom fuel injection, big cam, custom pistons and heads, custom plumbed intake with fuel injectors for each cylinder, etc. and we are putting that into my '73 Buick. (the retrofitting mentioned above).

The rearend is also bonkers, selling separately. Custom moser (I think) axle with 2.73 gears and lots of reinforcements (think 20 MPG and mid-11 second 1/4 miles from a 455), HRParts solid lower and adjustable upper control arms... He is going to list that stuff at V8Buick.com next week but if you know somebody interested I'll send you my email address.

Pretty much everything was custom made for this.

That's a shame. The body looks like it is in decent shape. Floorboards aren't that difficult or expensive to repair.

I saw almost exactly the same car on CL in Colorado with only 72,000 miles for $1200. That's probably closer to WI! (without all the mods of course, a stock version)

There's a lot of bondo in there. He also hasn't had a place to park it for 7-8 years now.

That's a common story my family has had with cars.

Best of luck.

Thanks. I have a two car garage, but I have two cars in there - my '73 LeSabre and a '54 MG. We are going to put his crazy motor into my '73 and move forward.
