I'm watching a livestream on my phone, and when the battery got to 20%, I plugged it in. Now its at 18% and still slowly falling. WTF, LG? Can't build a phone that uses less power than what is going in? Shit, I even dimmed the screen a bit and still its draining faster than its filling.

(I'd stream at work but Twitch is blocked of course and I don't want to circumvent the filter on my work PC but will on my phone because YOLO)

No, actually. I don't think they can. What phone do you have?

Sounds more like a problem with the battery itself (age) or the charger than the phone.

Lucid 2. Never had an issue charging while using before, or maybe that's just my laptop and Chromebook. :/

16% now, FYI.

(Edit, I mean my laptops charge while being used, so my phone should too.)

The battery (when not watching a 2 hour live stream) will last me more than a day in normal use, though the phone is over a year old now. Tried USB and wall charging, no difference.

You're plugged into your laptop? That's why. USB ports don't put out nearly as much power as a wall adapter. Plug it into the wall and it'll charge.

Ohh, you're charging it on your laptop? Yeah, that very well may be it.

No no, I meant my laptops charge while using, so should my phone. I'm plugged into the wall.

My S4 can't stay charged while using google maps AND pandora with the car charger. Eventually it overheats before the battery gets depleted though.

Mine will charge slowly in the car or stay nearly the same if I use Maps and Pandora/iHeartRadio

I had a Droid that would get super hot in the car though, and would shut down on really warm days.

The problem is with the charger, not the phone.

Most phones can accept up to a 2 amp charger. But chargers can put out anywhere from 0.75 to 2 amps.

So if the charger's not putting out a ton of juice, it may not charge the phone up quickly enough to replenish the battery when you're doing power-intensive stuff.

it's likely your charger. I was lazy once and decided to get a 12 foot usb cable so I could sit on the far end of my couch. Barely had enough juice to hold a charge let along add juice to my phone.

Is it the charger that came with the phone? I remember using a Kindle (eInk version) charger on my phone once and it was dealthy slow, because it was setup for a low power device like an e-reader. What is probably draining you battery is less the screen than the heavy 4G usage. What resolution are you streaming at? If you can lower it that might help.

Using the factory charger. I have noticed my phone charges a lot slower when I use my wife's Samsung Note charger at home.

Can't lower the resolution, its pretty shit as it is though.

Weird. Go into your settings and check battery usage, if you're on Android it should break down the apps using the most battery.

It could also be that there's a discharge happening somewhere that's constantly draining the battery faster than the phone is actually using it.

How good is your reception right now? It can burn through more power when it's fighting for signal.

As others have said, it's either your charger or your entire battery is dying.

My old phone's battery would drop probably 2% for each minute of screen-on time. Needless to say I don't use that phone anymore.

My current one will last around 3 days.
