It seems like they do the job of lowering your coolant temps as far as I can tell...any reason not to use it?

This is obviously something you wouldn't use on a modern, stock, well sized cooling system that will experience normal use, but with towing...at elevation...in the heat, I wonder if it would help with spark knock or just keeping my trans/engine temps in check (my rad has a trans cooler built in)

Thoughts?

Water wetter is great assuming you're not worried about freezing temps. I wish it was allowed at racetracks but you normally have to run straight water.

They are safe to use in almost anything these days and they do work. I would not be surprised to find out that at least some manufacturers already use them. It may or may not help your spark knock depending on exactly what is causing it in the first place. If the spark knock is caused by high temps and carbon buildup, then it might help, but if it is caused by too much timing advance and low octane fuel, then it may not help. It will help to lower your engine and transmission temperatures due to numbers 2 & 3 below. I included the info below from the Royal Purple link for reference.

2-in-1 corrosion inhibitor and wetting agent enhanced protection of aluminum

Reduces surface tension of coolant allowing heat to transfer outside the radiator for more horsepower

Reduces hot spots in the engine and cylinder heads to help prevent failure of critical engine components

Maintains a cleaner system, prevents overheating and extends the life of the water pump

Safe to use in water or anti-freeze/water blends
