That's one of the clitoral combat ships, the occupy some vague spot between true blue water ships and brown water river/landing craft. Their existence was thought to be a myth until modern science confirmed their existence and importance.
Many countries don't believe that they ate important and aren't looking into stimulating research into them.

Don't the Independence class have serious rust and oxidation issues? not sure if they fixed those but it sure looks cool. For some reason I prefer the more traditional Freedom LCS ships, though.

All ships have now received anti corrosion coating treatment so that problem has been remedied, at least for now.
