So an F80 M3 spec'd to my liking would set me back $72K, not bad actually. Now about acquiring said $72K.

Also, dat ass, those flares.

I configured mine with the white/tan interior and Yas Marina Blue, with a DCT and optional sound system, and it came to 69k. Not bad. Still think it's a bit overpriced and I wouldn't buy one.

There are cheaper cars with more power but there's something about the M3 that would make me still consider it if I had the money.

I saw one in person and OH MY GOD! It looks sooo much better than the M4, they were sitting side by side in Munich. I fell in love and decided that I need one some day (and a Viper GTS, e39 M5, Challenger Hellcat, Focus RS, Xterra w/6 speed, etc..)

Euro delivery is the ONLY way to pickup your M3. Then do the Spartanburg US delivery when it gets to the States.

I don't know if you are serious in buying. But if you do, the price isn't that much (provide you have some cash and time to enjoy this). Do an ED next spring, this is what the car would cost:

1. You get 7% off base price, or ED MSRP.
2. You go to bimmerfest find a board sponsor that willing to do $1500 + invoice (M3 is marked up cuz it's new, 4 series you could find board sponsor willing to do $500-1000 over invoice.) Invoice price is about 91~93% of MSRP (check Edmunds/KBB).
3. Feel free to take the deal and shop against your local dealers. Unless you are lucky to be in a super competitive market, you will have a hard time finding local dealer to matchup.

4. Put in order, wait 8 weeks for production, and drive on Autobahn for two weeks, and wait another 6-8 weeks (depends on east-west coast) ship to US.

Your total out of door (tax included) should be close to 70k plus DMV fees (do this yourself, please.) Totally do-able. (I'm getting permission on eating ramen for rest of my life from my wife.)
