I am green. We ended the game there because we ran out of time. Also enclosed is my friend's irritatingly spectacular pun he'd prepared for the whole day before my arrival.
Your country is under A SALT.

If you like risk you should try Diplomacy...

Ended the game? Ran out of time?!

Different form of risk than I'm used to. What happened to steam rolling on people with fifty cannons?

Used to love that game. Still do, just haven't had time to play much.

Ukraine not weak!

That was replaced with the salt!

You own Australia, instant win.

I finally achieved humanity's lifelong goal of conquering that desolate land of tarantulas and many other terrifying creatures besides!

Then you can join them and be under A SALT-II!
(...I think that's one of the best puns I've ever made.)

That place just ruins souls in that game.

Axis & Allies is far superior to Risk.

I found this game in parents basement a few years ago and It is ultra complex but looks fun as hell. My dad said he used to play it back in the 60s with his buddies.

You conquer it and then are like "now what"? North America is the best continent to conquer. It's pretty big, and has only 3 entrances. Europe is ok...but is harder to hold with 4 entrances. Asia is never really viable until the very late stages.

Fill the land of kangaroos and let them dwindle out. Then attack.

One strategy I haven't tried but might work is conquer it, then take the usual india and china, THEN build up many forces on china as you reasonably can, cash a set whatever, then take those annoying three russian provinces and japan east of siberia, and fortify at the kamchatka penninsula and siberia.
Those russian provinces (Yatusk, Irusktuk and something else) usually aren't very fortified, so all you'd really have to do is make sure you can hold kamchatka against whoever is in alaska. If you can get and hold at this point, the world is your oyster, you'll be able to move into Ukraine without too much fuss in a few turns.
I think for this strategy to work you would have to do this early though, it will be hard to get and hold kamchatka if someone in N. america is strong.

I typically just fortify whatever I get off the hop that has the least paths in or that I can take early. The east Asia thing is nice as long as the other players are not heavy on both sides.
That being said, that new Australia to Madagascar route in the new games really wreck the Australia "cheat".

I didn't know there was such a route. Guess I haven't played in a while.
Often times in my experience the person who take Australia doesn't end up winning anyways and as you said it depends where your cards situate you also.
I now want to play risk.

The new boards are printed with it. I want to play too. Its all about playing a one front battle, you control that you control the game.

Step 1) Play RISK, like a thousand times
Step 2) Find 4 friends that have played it as many times as you
Step 3) Get serious
Step 4) Kill all your friends in a blood rage
