I think it would have been a lot better without the extra headlight bit in between the hood and the windshield. That part is really the most egregious.

I think the second generation looks worse, it traded some of its wilfull ugliness for a bland, misshapen lumpiness. It's still the conveyance of choice for many Italian taxi drivers, despite having gone out of production 4 years ago and considering that taxis age in dog years and Fiat ones even more so, that's one hell of a solid car!
