How do I know if they're real? They're made from aluminum and have little casting numbers on the inside. They're certainly cool enough for the wall!

Here's a real set for sale on eBay for $275 . One is cracked so yours would be worth more. Check out the photo with the part number and compare to yours.

Actually, I think yours are from a 1950s Vette; the link I sent was for a C2 (1960s). The C1 bolt pattern was different; the upper cover bolts were closer together than the lowers ones. Here's an image of C2 covers; note they are symmetrical:
