I've been playing guitar and drums casually for about 20 years. Played drums in a band for a few years in high school. Don't get much time to play with a 5-month old taking up most of my time, but here is my current fleet of instruments:

Kinja'd!!!

^ Pearl Export Series. Got this set in 1998. Before that I'd been using my Dad's 1972 Slingerland Buddy Rich set (which he still has). Cymbals are 14" Zildjian Avedis hats, 8" Zildjian A series splash, 16" Zildjian Z series crash, 17" Zildjian A series crash, 22" Zildjian Avedis ride. The hats and ride are from Dad's set and are super stout. I also have a DW 7000 series double bass pedal.

Kinja'd!!!

^ Mid-90s Fender Strat on the left (my first guitar). Old, worn, and still sporting stickers from junior high/high school.

2009 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top. This is my baby. I know it's not a Gibson, but for someone who just plays occasionally at home it's a damn fine guitar.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

^ Line6 Spider III 75 on the left and Spider IV on the right. Solid, versatile amps for the casual guitarist.

I've been playing guitar my whole life. I'm out of town, but I'll add pictures of my gear when I get home.

You play guitar left handed, and drums right handed?

I'm weirdly ambidextrous, but I play guitar right handed, and drums mostly left handed, but my drums are set up for right handed playing. It makes no sense at all.

I started playing drums at age 10 and continued until about age 28, performing with various bands and sinking a fair amount of money into gear. I still have it all, too. I have 2 Gretsch drum sets, one a round-badge from the 60's (I think) and the other a square-badge from the 80's. I have enough equipment that it's specifically listed on our homeowners' insurance policy. Unfortunately, no pictures handy of any of it.

I played French horn for 12 years, but haven't picked it up since I graduated college in '06. I miss it sometimes.

I can't explain it. I write left handed, use scissors right handed, golf/bat right handed, throw left handed....

Me, El Uly, and zeontestpilot are all bass players. I haven't played in a while, but here are my two. A p-bass jr built for speed and a Frankenstein Jazz bass I pieced together. I bought an Airline with the intension of teaching myself how to play, but that never happened...

I draw right handed, but use an eraser with my left hand. I shoot my slingshot left handed, yet I shoot regular firearms right handed. The list of ambidextrous things I do goes on and on. (Also I was was writing this, I realize that I only use my left thumb to press the space bar.) WTF.

thanks! I wanted a vintage bass but I was in high school at the time and couldn't afford it. My dream bass is a Gibson Explorer bass though

I hear you. At least you play right-handed. Left-handed = automatically more expensive + fewer options and colors.

If my son shows any interest in the guitar I'm going to make damn sure he plays right-handed.

I'm not much of a musician (read: at all) but I've got a Yamaha guitalele, an Epi G-400 (formerly a "Goth", now just black with some other stuff- black nickel pickups and home-made whammy), and a Squier Classic Vibe 50s P-bass in LP blue:

Been playing drums, guitar and bass since the mid 90s.

Waaaay too much stuff to list. From guitars (8?), to basses (4?), to pedals (20?), to amps(8?), to synths (4?)... thankfully only one drumset! It's a '67 Ludwig (20" kick) and I love love love it.

I guess someone has to go the classical route. . . I've played the piano since I was 5. As for an instrument, I currently use a Yamaha CX3 Grand piano, but I want to trade it in for a Steinway & Sons Model B in a few years.

I used to bang on the drums but haven't for many years. I tried the guitar but my fingers are really fucked up so it never worked right for me.

I also played the clarinet in sixth grade...

I love some good piano. I took lessons when I was young, but gave up. My wife wants to learn so we bought a used Wurlitzer upright last fall.

Until you get to a seriously advanced level, an upright is all you will ever need. However, pianos are very much something where you get what you pay for.

She should definitely keep with it. Its good just to develop the ability tonread multiple lines of music at once.

The other reason I am biased towards the piano is it bring so much depth and richness that other instruments can't provide.

No pictures handy - I've had an ancient knockoff drumset for about the last 15 years - through random swaps and gear changes and everything else I'm not even sure what cymbals I own anymore, a 20" Pre-Aged K Dry Light Ride, and...umm...? It's in Illinois. I dabbled around with bass guitar in HS and when I worked in a music store, ended up with a Squire P-special (P body, J neck, J pickup in the bridge), and have played trumpet since I was 11 or 12. Horn sits most of the time, read that as I haven't played since I moved to NC. Bach Stradivarius LR180 (I think that's the model #). It was the lightweight body with the regular weight bell.

I played trombone in high school, and (not to brag) was pretty good at it, but by the time I graduated, I was so sick of it, (mostly because my band directors were dicks) I never played again. Oh well.

I've played piano for ~23 years, organ for ~10 years, and bass guitar for ~8 months.

Yes, I have a full-sized digital organ in my living room :).

I also have a 1916 7' Sohmer grand piano that lives in a warehouse until I upgrade my apartment. I picked it up for free from a church that was getting rid of it, and I've been rebuilding it slowly as I have the time. I've got it to where it plays nicely, although the pedals are stiff, but the finish is absolutely trashed. I'm hoping I can sand it down and shellac or polyurethane it and have it look nice; I'm not sure I'm up to spraying a "piano black" finish.

My bass guitar is a Japanese 1986 Charvel 3B.
