Probably the latter. The Catera looks like what would happen if you put the front of an '04 GTO and the back of a late 90's Grand Am on a Cavalier body from that angle.

On the V models, I damn agree. I wonder what they'll have in store for us in the Gen 3. That said, I am still so much more impressed by the Gen 2 interior. So much so, that sometimes I consider buying a sedan, with the manual, and the pathetic 3.0L V6. Something ain't right with me when I enjoy the interior that much.
