what'd you guys get up to this weekend?

I did brakes on a friend immaculate Outback sedan, given free from his wife's grandmother, and clearly maintained by a pro at EVERY dealer recommended interval. It was barely even dirty under there.

side note, I suspect two different parties designed the rear suspension and the rear calipers, the bolts holding the caliper on were mostly obstructed by suspension component. twas quite the PITA.

On my back for four hours on Friday under mine: took of the x-pipe, cut off the primary cats, replaced with test pipes, put it all back, and now just waiting to apply a tune.

My car is already noticeably more lively - you call tell it's breathing more freely and it freed up some horsepower. Sound a little more raw, too. Love it.

To quote a retired Chrysler engineer "They were built to get put together quickly and efficiently on the line, we don't give a shit how long it takes to take them a part."

I got this quote because he's friends with my dad who is a mechanic and was at his shop pulling a front passenger tire and an inner fender panel off a Sebring to change a belt. He was less than pleased that he had to take those steps and his friend happened to be there hanging out lol.

I think everyone saw my only "garage" type experience this weekend.

My Grand Marquis is due a new serpentine belt and spark plugs, but I live in an apartment with no garage. It will have to wait until I visit my parents in a couple weeks.

I replaced a clutch on my 96 Legacy. What a big nasty job. I pulled the motor becuase it was easier vs pulling the trans.

Replaced the levers on my Ninja; tried to replace the turn signals but things aren't quite working correctly, going to look into that tonight and finish. Next weekend: chasing an overheating issue and a not working horn.

I washed, waxed, vacuumed, and detailed the Phaeton. Took me most of Sunday afternoon.

I screwed around with the Benz wagon. Washed, waxed, polished headlights, diagnosed some stuff, fixed some more wiring, and conditioned the leather with some leatherique. Knocked out some small rust bubbles and spot repainted

I empathize with you. I pulled the transmission when I did my clutch a few months back ('98 Legacy), and holy smokes was that hard to get lined up again.

Did you check the oil separator plate behind the flywheel while it was apart?

I had a Ninja once, an '89-ish 500. twas a fun bike, but having been a learning bike for me and many of my friends it was in sad shape when I got it. turn signals long ago flush mounted out of necessity of being broken off a dozen times

Installed new headlights, turn signals, grill, hood latch, and front trim on my Sentra. It looks so much better than before, I'm gonna take some decent pictures after work.

my friend and I were wondering if anyone who worked on the creation of the car now owns one and has done the brake job and cursed themselves for lack of foresight

sounds fun!

cut though, sounds risky should you fail emissions tests in the future, can't just bolt the cats back in for the day.

That ex-Chrysler engineer drives a Hyundai now.

I changed the transmission and differential fluid in my Miata. Still need to figure out how to get a snapped bolt out of one of my rear sway bar mounts.

broke a bolt on my lower control arm, easy outs worked. drill a hole then slowly rotate out with these reverse thread dealies that dig into the bolt. that and lots of penetrating lube. good luck!

Exactly what I'm doing in terms of the turn signals. Going flush mount; not exactly plug and play, but just needs a little taken apart to fit the old connectors into the new ones. Only have my temps now so I need to fix a few things before I take the endorsement test.

Yeah it was nice and dry. The car did have a valve cover leak tho. What is odd is now the clutch wont engage no matter what adjustments I do. Have you ever had throwout bearing clips fail?Mine seemed ok and the dealer was closed so I reused them(i know a big no no)
