So last Friday I busted my oil pan going down South Lamar in Austin. I immediately turned the car off the second I hit the man hole cover. Coasted into the H20 car wash at Lamar and Barton Springs just to spew all my 6 quarts of oil out in the parking lot.
I had a CTS-V oil pan on the car which is 6.75" Deeper than the pan I'm buying today. The F-body Pan (98-02 Camaro V8 and Trans Am V8) I'm getting today is only 5" deep and should help me out alot. I even looked at the corvette oil pans but they are over $600 bucks !
So while the car sat there at the shop over the weekend I spent my time swimming at Lost Creek. Then did some BBQing at my new place which is ON THE RIVER ! (without a van) I don't know how I get so lucky so often but when a buddy hits you up and tells you his bitch of a gf is moving out and ask if you want to pay $425 a month to live on the river in Austin Texas you respond FUCK YEA !

Hitting things in the road sucks. I broke a sway-bar mount on my car hitting a bumper one time - I think it'd fallen out of the back of a truck. I've also played the "lose all your oil" game - twice (loose oil filter the first time, oil cooler damage the second time).

The amount you're paying for rent in Austin makes me so sad inside.

Once you get the 5" pan I would still try to weld on some gheto-ized skid plate shit

I agree. Not really sure what to make it out of. What will be strong enough but thin enough not to added a whole inch to the clearance issue.

Its not like that for everyone. Actually a majority of people pay a good amount of money.

1" of Steel would be a crazy amount. 1/8" of high strength steel would go a long way.

Hell even some diamond plate would probably help a lot.

Have any interior pics? Still looking forward to you taking it to the scale. We just got done putting a bigger cam in the ls1 in my buddies FD. Sounds so mean now and we should have some dyno numbers in the next few days
