I'm trying to convince my dad to replace the Forester with a 95 or better F150/F250. I told him I'll pay for it myself too, so the budget there is... $3k. (I could triple that, but I don't want to rape my savings).

Kinja'd!!!

Trying to find one that is 4WD, automatic, V8 and not a rust bucket is impossible. do you have any suggestions? I'm in Long Island, but I'm willing to go to CT if I have to and I'm also looking in the Catskills area.

Don't restrict yourself to 95s or later or just Fords.

You can find some decent machines around where I live for that price.

I wouldn't mind Chevy or GMC from the same era. 95-05 is what I'm looking for.

I may be looking for a cheap truck with 4wd once I pull the trigger on a 4c (I will need a winter vehicle and find myself needing a truck with surprising frequency). I was looking at 99+ Silverados but I've come to the conclusion that the only way to get one that isn't rusted to death is to look in the south. Cheap means high mileage and high mileage on trucks usually means that the cab corners are rusted out.

IF you can triple it, why not get the 2004 or newer Ford F150? I hate the looks of the trucks older than that (except the Lightning) and think the 04+ bodystyle is not bad at all. I'm not a truck guy so maybe there's other reasons to avoid them. You could probably even pick up a fleet model for 6.5k

No fucking way I'm dumping ALL my savings in a truck.

Heres a 95 f350 for 3k. Looks real good, but says it needs a front wheel bearing. Be cautious, the spindles could be trashed.

oh man... I like it a lot except for the front wheel bearing. I don't want a truck from Islip if I will be Slipping too...

That 86 I posted earlier is the best one I found. I'm not familiar with the long island area.

That's a terrible idea. The 5.4's are littered with maintenance nightmares.

Upstate has a shit ton of good old trucks for sale, anything from Fords to Dodges to Chevy's.

Road trip for rust free trucks? Dry climate and little rain makes parts last.
