In 1999, the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station held an open house featuring a few USAF and civilian-owned ex-military planes. The following year, it had bloomed into a full-blown airshow, featuring more aircraft and actual flight demonstrations. After that, the show grew still larger, attracting the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, and Canadian Snowbird teams, along with civilian aerobatic teams and the Skytypers. Unfortunately, the base has faced funding problems in the past few years, resulting in the show being canceled in 2009, 2012, and 2013. Last year's Congressional budget battles lead to the 2014 show also being canceled, leaving next year's show also in doubt. Still, it's fun to remember the good times. I'm posting just a few pics for each year; the year links will take you to the full slideshow.

The C-17 showed off it's nifty thrust reversers turning around prior to a flight demo. Unfortunately, someone wasn't paying attention to distances, as the jetwash knocked over one of the speaker towers (I missed that, natch).

Kinja'd!!!

Yeah, Nighthawks at our pokey little airshow.

There were few signs at this show, and I had no idea what that white plane was. It actually took me a few years (wondering off and on, mind you) to find out it's an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Don't ask me how, but this is the best pic I got of the Tomcat. The rest are all closeups.

The first Super Hornet I'd ever seen. There were two there, an E and an F.
