It's basically an F-150, so it's not as though it's some oddball low-production vehicle. The 4.9 litre engine is the 300 c.i. straight six, which was known for its durability.
The wheels are from an Explorer. The Explorer, Ranger, Crown Vic, SN95 Mustang and others shared the same bolt pattern (5 x 4.5"), but the '80-'96 F-150's was 5 x 5.5". After a little research , I see that the F-100 without power brakes does use 5 x 4.5".

I had an '83 with the same engine and transmission. I paid $500 for it, beat the living shit out of it for 2 years and passed it on with over 250k on the odo. Never gave me a second of trouble.

You have to maliciously try to kill that 4.9. They'll run forever, especially with a carb. The 3 speed is pretty stout too. My dad got an '82 F150 in about 1985, and on the lot next to it was one of these, a stepside in 80's rootbeer brown, with the chrome rollhoop in the bed. I wanted him to get that truck so badly.

The 300 is one of the better engines Ford ever put in a truck. Not much of a power house, but they seem to live long, productive lives. The rest of the truck is about as simple as a farm tractor (an old one) and should serve well, if you're mechanically minded.
You might want to ask if it has a C4 or a C6 transmission. I have no idea what they put in 6 cylinder 2-wheel-drive trucks back then. The C4 wasn't particularly sturdy, but the C6 was a tank. And to be sure, don't run away just because it has a C4, just be extra cautious. If it was truly restored (as stated in the ad), then it's possible the trans was rebuilt and maybe beefed up a bit.
And I agree, these are gorgeous trucks! Buy now, buy often!

That vintage with that engine is a great combo. Price would seem high here. But don't know what it is there. Might be fair. Glad to hear it no longer needs "admissions". Whatever that is.
