There is too much sketch about that whole thing.

Sketch? How so?

Cause he said they are beating the piss out of to test reliabilty?

I assume the street racing. The rest of it seems pretty awesome. I'm even more on board for an EcoBoost Mustang now.

I've been on board since I knew they were doing it.....Thos 4cyls are no joke..... I mean I daily drive a Turbo DI 4 Cylinder, I love it, the power is bonkers and unexpected.

Damn that car moves the F out. I cannot wait to see a test and tune night at the drags when the Ecoboost '15s come out.

I was talking about the V6 EcoBoost but yeah, the 4 cyl too.

Was not aware the TT would be an option.......I was under the impression that Ecoboost was the 4cyl Turbo, NA v6 and NAv8 with obvious SC options later on.

I would love to see a dyono of that thing.....The fact it walked that Boss down that was Dyno'd at 560 is impressive.....

Ive always thought that a 3.5 ecoboost Mustang would be a better car than an NA 5.0

I bet ford will ditch the S/C for a TT at some point.

Kinja'd!!!1

Eventually they will have to....if they wanna compete with the other companies the only way they will temporarily make more power is a TT setup....Chevy will no doubt come back with something more insane and it will just be an ongoing battle...

Plus they put up a teaser IMHO of the TT V8 Mustang with the '12 SEMA TT Cobra Jet Twin Turbo 5.0 SEMA Cobra Jet

Kinja'd!!!1

Never knew about the TT.....

Everyone is going to Turbo, GM is still basking in SC goodness and killing it in my opinion....once GM moves to a Turbo setup on their V8's I really doubt ford will compete....

Also, are the SC motors in the ZL1 and ZR1 Pushrod?...

Kinja'd!!! T5Killer > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
07/31/2014 at 19:35

Kinja'd!!!0

Yep they are LSA/LS9 6.2L Pushrod V-8 with the end of Northstar DOHC production in 2010 All current GM V-8s are pushrods. I think ford will be the 1st to go turbo since they were the 1st to go S/C V-8 in recent times ('03 Cobra S/C 4.6 DOHC While GM 1st modern S/C V-8 was in '09 with the ZR1)

And the only reason the GM did that was to wave their dick around, they made plenty of pwoer NA, imagine if GM moved to a DOHC TT.....It will be nuts.....

Kinja'd!!! T5Killer > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT
07/31/2014 at 19:53

Kinja'd!!!0

It depends pushrod vs DOHC for high hp with forced induction has way more variables beyond just pushrod vs DOHC. The highest HP V-8s in the world are Pushrod V8s making 8000+HP in topfuel dragsters.

Kinja'd!!!0

But for daily use a DOHC VVT TT would kick some ass

But looking at what people do with GM engines as is and turbo them to make a thousand HP with no issue at all.....I'm sure GM can churn out some realy good power realiably.

Same with Ford V-8s Both pushrod windsors and DOHC Modulars I have seen a number of 1k HP Mustangs around town with modern EFI and turbos 1k HP is pretty easy with the right amount of $$$.

On a stock bottom end?

I've heard of people just slapping Turbos onto 5.3s and making insane numbers without issues....

Kinja'd!!! Cherry_man1 > Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT

Cause they arnt showing their faces no real numbers are out on it and some others things didnt seem right in my eyes

Can I know what didn't seem right?

They never dyno'd it, so there is that.

They blur the faces in all the street racing Videos to protect people from being aressted and what not, go watch some of the other 1320 Videos, almost all the drivers are blurry.

Yep for the Windsors I have seen 351w pulled from the junkyard making 1k and Modular 5.4s and 5.8s making 1k on factory short blocks. The 5.4 I am bit skeptical since 800hp is usually the limit to the stock bottom end. But the 5.8 1k seems legit. Plus we are 5k above sea level so HP is down compared to sea level.

That is nuts.

We see some impressive cars where I am, but they are usually GTRs or Supras....

I live within a half hour of the "Supra From Hell" and if I go out to meets I am almost guranteed to see a thousand HP GTR or something.

Dyno and Faces then he says its completely stock but then goes on to say all internals are custom......what?

I didn't catch that bit, I'm gonna give it another watch to see that again.

Kinja'd!!! Nick, Drives a Cobalt LT > Cherry_man1

What he said was all the internals in the engine are stock, but they have custom stuff waiting on a shelf in the shop for when and if something goes.

Impressive considering someone on Mustang Forums has already turbo'ed their car and grenaded an engine because it leaned out. And I don't think he was making as much HP as this guy.
