In the late 1950's Dodge was planning on developing an electric car. Midway through the development, an engineer from Eastern Kentucky asked, "so, how ya gonna charge 'er?" The name Charger was born and was the only thing to come of the project.

The other engineer explained that his wife's mind was already dead set on an electric car, and that when she gets her mind made up it's wise not to challenge 'er.
