Austin has some VERY VERY EPIC roads. One of those being Lime Creek road which will soon be my daily commute to work and back to the house. Don't ask me how I'm so lucky but I found waterfront property to rent for 850 a month . Split between me and a buddy I've managed to get a EPIC deal .
Anyways, tried my soon to be daily commute yesterday and besides the exhaust dragging everywhere the damn car got a leak in the tire on the side wall. Keep in mind I've driving the datsun 3 days as of yesterday and in the turns its planted and ready to fly unless you apply more than 25% throttle which only results in massive sideways opposite lock fun / hooning (YES even with the open diff) So new tires are to come but for the time being I'll have to get a used tire. I swear theres no one out there driving a ls swap car but only has a 100 bucks in his pocket lol . ): .
These swaps are not always as cheap as people make them seem to be . Good rule of thumb just double your projected cost than triple your projected cost and you'll have around the amount of money you're going to spend on this LS swap.

I get really jealous every time you post. I have a '14 FoST but I have been seriously considering picking up a 240 to make my daily. I rarely drive as it is so it would be mostly a weekend car, they seem like they are cheap enough to repair/deal with, would ideally like to do an SR20 swap but since i have ZERO mechanical experience I would be working with a shop that I have been referred to. I would also like to use it as an opportunity to no longer have no mechanical experience. I figure a FoST budget would be enough to get one of these in perfect running order (whatever that means)

Keep in mind you have to run premium in the SR20 if it is the turbo.

I run premium in my FoST as it is, and ran it in my SVT and 05 SI and Integra GS-R before that so thats not really a big deal to me, although the only one of those three that didnt really need it was the 05 SI

Hah :) I've found the same thing money-wise with my Spit6 build.
I originally budgeted £8k for the whole thing.
So far, I've spent £9k with another £4k at least to spend :S
Should be top-notch though :)

haha that is tempting, How about you get it painted up in that new gray color the FoST is coming in, and do a full Restomod on it and you have yourself a deal :)

I'm sure there are guys out there that do these swaps for less but what they don't say is that they work at a junkyard and get everything for free .. oh and they are master tech's with ASE certification in everything I would hope they could do the swap for less. Guys like me with a good amount of auto knowledge can do these swaps but they do take a little more flexing of the wallet.

hahha I'm not military :)
I move there with my wife who is japanese... so no specific timeline. Forever is the plan for now. I would really have done a road trip all the way to Texas to trade it with your car otherwise (granted that you got it ready to come back here lol). The car is canadian, but it's really easy to bring it back to the US considering that it's a US car, made in the states.
And no, I have to get rid of it for good... I'm not coming back so... :(
Damn, I would really have taken your Z man... :(

I've got good news for you .. You can get a Z in Japan no problamo ! I'd still really really like to have the vette just don't have the 8900 laying around. I've got 8500 in the datsun total buying the car and doing the LS swap.

Yes, I know... But I also have two plane tickets to buy, a shitload of japanese lessons to take...etc etc
Honestly, if you want to get rid of it at some point in 6 months or so, let me know first hand. I will definitly be willing to give you enough to pay for a very good Corvette for it, especially if you've made it reliable by then! flavien (at) restlessboards.com .
Keep my email, and make sure that I'll be the first one you tell when you sell it... I might actually need other cars from Texas while there ;)

I'm sure the market for USDM modded cars in Japan is HUGE we might be able to make a few bucks sending US cars that direction.

Japanese are very complicated and sometimes annoying people :)
They want their cars to be unique, but want everyone to know what they own at first sight. For most Japanese (there are lots of exceptions of course), their cars reprenset their social status, how they are, how much they own... etc. You won't make money with a basic muscle car... If you're gonna sell a muscle car, it better be something like a 68 or 69 Camaro, and it better be spot on. Matching numbers and full documentation does not matter so much. What matters is the absolute total cleanliness of the cars you bring to Japan and their total uniqueness.
Good thing is that they won't negociate a price. They pay what is asked for, period.
