I even have events that are 2 hours away. So now begin the questions.

On a scale of 0 to completely stupid, how good of an idea is it to do it in your DD once a year?

Lets say I get a beater, would I need to buy new tires, or can I just roll with whatever all seasons(probably) it has on it?

Are there any safety requirements besides a helmet?

Not the same rallycross but still fun to watch!

Definitely bad in the DD (although great fun). I think they need to be caged to run, since all the cars in a rallycross I watched had cages. Could be wrong though.

The video above shows an Rx-7 without a cage. So I don't think a cage is needed. I could be wrong though as well.

SCCA rules no cage is required; they do have a stock class for all drive types (fw/rw/aw)

I would get the email for your scca group rally cross leader (mine in mid-east) and ask him how bad the course would be on your car; or go down to an event and watch and see.

And if your in the Maryland run group Id let you use my car if I can get the free time to go

Ah okay, it was a long time ago I went to an event as a kid. Might have been pro or pro am with stricter safety or something like that.

It really depends on the course, but everyone I've asked has argued against using my DD. And I own a WRX.

Some of them don't look too bad, like the ones that have a dirt course, I am sure my car could handle it. For example this one.

Sadly, I don't live anywhere near Maryland otherwise I would take you up on that offer.

This one is 3 and a half hours away from me , but it doesn't look that brutal on a car.

I am sure the problem probably lays within suspension parts being put through more strain. That and all the dust that you will put in your car.

This is why I want a 2.5RS or a bug-eye WRX. I just don't have any place to park another car.

A bug-eye on Forester springs with a set of used rally tires wrapped around some OZ Terra ALs. Mmmm.

I was thinking about using my uncles LS400 cause I can probably get it for cheap, don't know how well it would fare in rallycross situations.

I was thinking some Speedline rally wheels, cause just look at them!

Gah, those are beautiful.

I'm so tempted to downsize my wheels, buy some sweet rally wheels to put up with Austin's crappy roads, and revel in cheapo 17" tires. 4srs.

I don't know if they still make those anymore, plus they don't look cheap either! So it might not work for a cheap set up.

Oh, no. Rally tires are expensive. :o( 17" tires are, however, way less suck than 18" ones.
