Dodge Stealth! You're back! We thought you were dead! Thankfully, YouTube extraordinaire and completely humorless car reviewer !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has gotten his hands on the nicest Stealth currently for sale. But can you survive this unemphatic 26-minute barrage of details and specs?

This morning, Oppositelock commenter Matt Hardigree (I think he's new around here) !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! currently for sale on eBay Motors. Priced at a steep $19,900 Buy It Now, this sex in automotive form can't possibly be for anyone other than well-off Stealth fans looking for a nostalgic toy to relive the Clinton-tastic glory of the 90's.

OMG

An unstoppable wave of commenters seemingly follow the Stealth around whenever it pops on the internet, decrying the experience of ownership. "It's a nightmare!" they scream, "Hope you like paying out the ass for repairs!". This is usually followed by, "but I've never owned one".

Actual owners aren't so damning. As with any vehicle, performance and reliability are consistent with the quality of the up-keep. Be good to it, and it will be good to you.

Kinja'd!!!

That ass

This little known and often forgotten about car was one of the best performance bargains from 1991. And certainly one of the hottest to look at, as this was a time when the competition was still stuck in the boxy and wedgy looks of the 80's.

At this price, every molecule of my being is initially tempted to yell crack pipe. But ultimately, I won't do it. I want this car so bad. So incredibly bad.

See this? THIS is the car people should be buying right now. Not Supras. Because this is still under-appreciated and unreliable.

In less than 5 years, these are going to double in price. They're already on the way up, I remember when you could pick up any DSM for under $3000 running, just about 4 years ago.

Mark my words! Mark them well!

It also doesn't help that most Dodge stealths don't look anything like showroom quality here, but rather look like a lovechild between a Ford Probe and a Pontiac Trans Am:

Why not 300ZX? It's much prettier, just as hard to work on and just as underrated while still being very quick.

"Why not zoidberg?"

Yeah, the Z32 300ZX is still a better car in my opinion, by a long shot. But I don't see it appreciating much more than it has already. They made a lot of them and the only really valuable ones are the twin turbo coupes, which do go for considerable money in good shape.

So I think the 300ZX is a better car, but the Dodge Stealth is more underrated and undervalued. If you're looking for a speculative buy, it might be better.

The Z31 on the other hand... that is a great speculative buy right now.

Sadly, 1993 was the awkward and ugly phase for the Stealth.

The KBB of my car has gone up nearly a grand since I bought it 6 months ago. Also, the J Spec bumper/headlight combo is pure sex. I already had someone offer me $3k more than I paid for my car. Maybe I got a really good deal, or it's just a good buy...

I remember I had a chance at 3 DSMs, all Eagle Talons, for $4k, $3k, and $2.5k.

The $4k one was in GREAT shape and modded; the $3k was modded, but was once a standing DSM class record holder in the 1/4 mile, and the $2.5k one was stock and in average shape. Sometimes I regret not getting one of them, other times I'm glad I got my 7-Series instead...

Now I wonder what a stock, unmolested one goes for.

I tried finding a picture of one with the rear quarter panel flaking apart from rust and poor fiberglass quality, with bubbling paint, but I couldn't find one. I presume it's because every time someone tried to take a picture of such a Stealth in its natural habitat, the camera broke.

I've seen beat-up non-turbo Talons going for around $3000 or more recently. Not sure on what an unmolested turbo would do, but pretty good.

The 7 series is just as appreciative though, so you did well.

Apparently extreme ugliness doesn't just break mirrors. And all this time, I thought my wife was just being careless in the bathroom.

OOooohhhh how much do I wanna love this car. Ohh man. Grew up in this things heyday. I want to want it soooo baaaad. But...

Kinja'd!!!

This. I cannot abide by this. I am ideologically opposed to leaving something as critical as engine timing up to a belt. Especially on an interference engine. These will always be a dealbreaker for me, with extremely few exceptions.

Your post bumped Stealth momentum to the max.

In recent Oppoing, K-Roll sparked a huge discussion on Thursday.

Then Will asked about stealth cars , but not the Dodge version... minor details, but hey.

Then your post threw the fuel into the fire, and now this is just unstoppable Stealth madness!

The Achilles heel of the Stealth rears it's ugly head. With a chain, this car wouldn't be so controversial. It's a shame, but it is what it is.

Hmm...the TT model makes a little bit lest power than the 3.7 Vq. No timing belts, And Nissan's already got Transverse applications for that motor....

Oh shit, I got the building materials used in the body of an obscure 90s captive import wrong on a post a year old . I should be drawn and quartered then burned and buried so no one will find my remains.

Give me your address so I can mail my jalop card for you to personally shred it and make an example of me.
