Why not call it a Falcon instead? The Mustang has never been a four door and it would probably piss people off.

1.) Sell as Falcon
2.) Offer both transmissions because maximize profits
3.) Hoon
4.) Profit from taking advantage of retro vibes and anyone being able to own it.
5.) Save Aussie Ford designs.

Welcome to 2002. We've been wanting a US falcon for ages.
Closest we got was the Lincoln LS.

I'd rather they sold it as a Lincoln so that they could have a legitimate 5-series rival, rather than badging it as a USDM Ford that could conflict with the Taurus. The Mustang platform ought to be used to make 3-series and 4-series fighters for Lincoln, if possible.

Yeah that could work but if only Lincoln just change the badge. We don't need any different make-over. This Taurus looks pretty already.

The Australian Falcon has been one long history of missed opportunities for Ford North America, I don't even want to look at it anymore because it makes me depressed.
That said, they screwed up badly by not engineering it for LHD adaptability and if they ever did want to sell it here, they would need to tool up a plant in the US/Canada/Mexico, which would still doom Australian manufacturing.

fixed. I've been saying it for years. A damn shame they're killing it. Ford's worst blunder was not engineering it for LHD, and now apparently the cost of doing so isn't worth it. Instead they just abandon the RWD large/sport sedan segment entirely and try to replace it with Taurus/Fusion. I would have bought one, especially as a Lincoln. I also think it looked better before
