I don't understand it, but I like it for some reason:

2012 Chevy Sonic, 785 Miles

Kinja'd!!!

Add to that the fact that the 1.4 Ecotec turbo can be built for torque like crazy... 220 lb ft can be had for !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Import Tuner did one not long ago, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! without any major reliability issues.

Of course, the fact that it's a Sonic and I'm a big dude would make livability a little bit of an issue, but otherwise, I dig it.

One of the Oppos here has the RS-variant so he'd be best to point you in the right direction. I think you should spring for the RS instead of the LT trim. Save the money wasted on bodykits and vinyl wrapping for sporty suspension and a closer-ratio transmission.

That is pretty nice looking. But you're right, those things are SMALL. I'm 6'1 and could barely even close the door on one of those I sat in at the auto show. Its a great car for paraplegics though.

How big a dude are you? It's actually really roomy. I'm only 5' 8", 205 lbs (when I bought it was more like 230), but I find it spacious. More so than a Fiesta.

I get 23 pounds of boost, it's quick. The basic tune from trifecta is only $200, that's all you need. I paid for the full tune but I got the tune cable free (black friday sale). Of course I didn't need any further tuning so I could have stuck with the basic tune, but I might get a retune if I get a downpipe soon, which I plan on doing.

Intake and catback makes it sound fun too

I wouldn't buy THAT one though, it's nice looking but it has shitty cloth seats and a basic radio. For the same money you could get a new LT with MyLink, although you'd still be stuck with the shitty cloth seats

I'm 6'3" and 300 lbs with a 30" inseam so my Kia Soul is about perfect when it comes to small cars. I work for Classic Soft Trim so I would be able to get a full leather interior for cheap. I look at cars for sale when it's slow here. The Kia is likely being traded for a Civic Si sedan when it's time.

Yeah, the Sonic would be pushing it, but check one out, you might be pleasantly surprised at the room.

Hey, I see you have the Sonic RS. I have considered it as an option for a new car, and want to know how you liked it. It isn't one of my top choices, but I am open to every car in the list.

That's me.

As long as you got a new LT with the MyLink I think it's okay if you don't mind it being cheap. All the mods for power still work as long as it's the 1.4T.

The RS is the way to go, but it's 4 grand more than an LT, so there's that.

Well it is a compact car, it's not like it's trying to be big. I think the Sonic is roomier than the Fiesta.

Fair enough. But I guess my issue is why can't automakers make a small car with decent room. Honda has done it for years. Why can't anybody else?

I like it a lot. Stock it's okay, but a couple cheap mods (intake ~$300, tune $200, catback ~$300) and it's great. If you're just after performance, the FiST is the way to go, but it's at least $2000 more than the Sonic (lets be real, no one wants the cloth seats in the Fiesta)

The Sonic just oozes character though. It looks fantastic, and has a lot of unique touches (exposed projector headlights, motorcycle gauge cluster, RS embossing everywhere, alcantera seat inserts). I'm hoping to get a corvette at some point, and I had been planning on trading the Sonic for it. Over the past few weeks though, I've had multiple people at autocrosses comment on how fun the Sonic looks, I've had other oppos drive it and come away impressed, it's making it hard on me to get rid of it. I'm planning on keeping it now.

I picked it up a year ago today actually, and I have a post about that scheduled for 1PM eastern. I fell in love with the car at first drive, but I've grown to appreciate it more and more the longer I've owned it.

Thanks for the feedback! And I hope you do get that Corvette, but understand the love for the Sonic. I also liked the exposed headlamps and the RS emboss, and though it is a bit over my budget, I think I can convince my father since he likes it a lot too

Oh, the Corvette will happen. It's going to be about 2 years. I'll just have a Corvette and the Sonic. I need the space of a Sonic or bigger, so I can't just get rid of it without something else. My plan was to buy a cheap Suburban then trade the Sonic for a 'vette, but now I want to keep the Sonic and just buy a Corvette.

The Sonic has decent room for its size. Honda does some weird tricks on the Fit to make it more spacious, like putting the gas tank under the front seats (IIRC)

I see your plan, and yes, you will need practicality someday. That will be very cool, and I will keep you updated on how my car purchase goes.
