727s, DC-10s, TWA, cigar-engined 737s! Wow!

True story:

We were discussing defunct airlines at work one day and one person spoke of "The famous one with the red letters. That had the accident near Long Island years ago. You know, NWA airlines."

Edit: She did not mean Northwest.

I remember laughing so hard it was difficult to breathe.

Nice. Was looking for Eastern.

I've flown Allegheny, US Air & US Airways (same airline) as well as TWA & Pan-Am (not caught on vid) and this was nice trip down memory lane.

I was looking for Eastern, too. Disappoint.

It's kind of depressing how bland aircraft designs are anymore. Outside of the behemoths (A-380, 747), new airframes are pretty much wing-mounted, twin-engine designs these days. I used to love the three-holers: 727s, DC-10s and especially the L-1011s. I also enjoyed the little Bae-146 jets, with their high-mounted wings and tiny, hair-dryer engines.

Awesome! I gotta say, that 727 in the final TWA livery looks damn good
