When a friend calls and asks if you'd be interested in driving a classic muscle car around and having your picture taken, one must take pause to think "is this real life?!". My friend doesn't know much about cars she only knew it was a Trans-Am, it was better this way. A couple hours later there I was, grinning ear to ear behind the wheel of a 1973 Pontiac Trans-Am 455 SD, the last great muscle car. The original paint was peeling, interior hadn't been cleaned in god knows how long, but that glorious exhaust note was all I needed to keep me happy. That and what happens then you stomp down on the skinny pedal to the right.
*close to a hundred words, this ain't an exact science.

I would have agreed that it was the last great muscle car a few years ago, but now I'd say it was the last great classic era muscle car. Either way I'd love to have one. So sexy, so much torque.

Blew the driver-side exhaust gasket on one of these bad boys owned by a friend on a "street race night" at the drag strip in Tulsa. My buddy wasn't even pissed and didn't fix it for almost a month. Best. Sound. Evah!!!

Not trying to bust balls, but if it's original paint and motor why does the shaker say "455" on it? Seems to be missing two important letters and one hyphen.

so let me get this straight. you know a girl who owns a 455-SD, and you haven't married her yet?

Haha, it belongs to a friend of hers. My girlfriend used to work at Miller Motorsports and prefers manuals so she's no slouch.

Yes, agreed. I thought about specifying that, guess I should have. There are so many great modern muscle cars but they're disguised at GT cars.

Damn, I bet that was loud as hell.

Eh, I was just splitting hairs. You were perfectly fine. As is that car.

"Many of the magazines from the period illustrate super duty 455 cars, but without the SD preceding the 455 on the shaker."
Either that's the case or I goofed and it's a regular 'ol 455 Trans-Am. Next chance I get I'll check the block to see what designation code it has and if it is in fact a 455 SD. It's not ball busting, it's keeping me on my toes, which I appreciate seeing as you can get crucified for missing details like that.
