Example #473:
GT-R owner tried to use a heat gun to remove their GT-R emblem and got the trunk panel a tad too hot:

Of all the emblems, why would you try to remove the GT-R one?

You. Fucking. Idiot.

Half the GT-R owners I see are 16 year old kids whose parent s bought it for them.

A heat gun? Why on earth would anyone think that was a good idea?
Here, moron:
This could have saved you a few thousand dollars in paint repairs, and it helps keep your teeth clean, too.

Sleeper? Other than that bit of illogic, I got nothing.

I heat gun for like 10 seconds, then floss.

I removed the Nissan one on mine. I know lots of people (sadly) who removed both and replaced the Nissan one with the GT-R one.

I was 19.

I've used a hair dryer to soften the adhesive a little, but I'd be too afraid to use my heat gun anywhere near something with paint... let alone a GTR.

I want to de-badge my car but this is exactly why I havn't tried yet. I feel like one way or another I'm going to fuck something up. I was told to use a hair dryer and am still nervous with just that. How hot do heat guns get?

I used a heat gun on mine but I took the Nissan badge/sign off, de-badged it like a pro. Then again, wasn't my first de-badge. And I mean you just do it for a few seconds max.

I used a heatgun to help in removing my turbo badge, and to remove a vinyl pinstripe.
The heatgun was not the problem, the operator was.

I usually just park the car in the sun and then use floss.

Way hotter than a hair dryer. Think 500 degrees
You can use a heatgun, just don't be a dumbass about it. Never hold it in one place for more than a second or two, and keep it some distance away. A hair dryer will be much safer, but it's still best to use good practice, don't hold it in one place for long etc.
You should just need a little heat then run some dental floss behind it and work it through. Get some adhesive remover to clear the residue.

It is a good idea, if used properly. It's one of several methods and tools that professional auto body techs and detailers use them for removing emblems and vinyl graphics.

That's not the GT-R I was referring to. I like yours better.

lulz, but truthfully I was actually 19 when I got my R35, and I neither showed it off, crashed it, nor melted the paint off. We're not all stupid, just, you know, most of us.
