Why he doesn't want a winter truck.

Kinja'd!!!

I JUST CAN'T INTO TRUCKS!

1. Too big(I hate big cars); I'm not even comfortable or confident driving a van!

2. Too high(I hate sitting tall in vehicles, for the same reasons above)

3. I don't feel confident driving a truck.

4. I have no space at my house for a truck in the driveway

5. I have no use for a truck and it's bed.

6. It's overall useless to me in the non winter season.

7. If the 944 is down for any reason in the spring, summer or fall, I do not want to drive a truck for whatever period of time it is down.

8. I hate trucks.

9. Parking spaces are too damn small where I'd have to park.

10. They're not appealing to me in any way.

11. I think I'd be more likely to kill myself in a truck than in anything else!

It would just be all around BAD for me to be in a truck. No this probably sounds stupid, and it might be, but that is how I feel about trucks. I've driven one truck, an S10 and hated it; even though it was a stick...

Why don't you just use your Focus in the winter? It's not like its a collectors item or anything like that?

I was going to recommend a small truck like a Ranger or Mazda B2000, but if you didn't like an S-10, that rules those out :/

Looks like you're only truck option:

I'm not even comfortable or confident driving a van!

There's your problem right there. You're not comfortable with big vehicles because you aren't comfortable or confident to drive them. It's time to learn.

Honestly, it will be one of the best things you'll ever do. I learned to drive in a full size truck and hauled trailers and knew how to park them in reverse while I had my learners. It makes driving anything else significantly easier and in general a better driver.

You become more aware of your surroundings when driving something that big and it transfers down as they become habits.

I don't like big vehicles either, which is why I drive a first gen Tacoma. It gives me the versatility I need, while having a reasonable footprint. Vehicles are always a compromise, and I don't mind this one.

How much experience do you actually have driving a truck? Because I was uncomfortable driving my dad's Silverado the first week or so because of it's size. Eventually though, you get used to the dimensions and it doesn't even phase you.

Hell, when I first drove it, I couldn't even pull into a parking space right. Now I can parallel park it without and issues.

It also helps you understand how bigger vehicles handle and brake, and maybe learn not to pull out in front of that dump truck loaded down with a ton of dirt without maybe stepping on it to get up to the speed limit so your little BMW doesn't end up in the ditch. True story.

*not implying you

**not sure that they didn't understand that big trucks take longer to stop, or just asshole because BMW

Seriously though, if people drove a bigger vehicle every once in a while and learned how they drive differently, it may help them be more courteous to drivers in other vehicles, especially commercial, when they realize not everything stops and goes like whatever they're driving.

You don't hate the trucks, you hate the drivers.

The truck doesn't dictate where it goes (most of the time) the driver does.

The truck doesn't park like an asshat, the driver does.

In the case of my two 240s and my two 740s, they were both great cars. I traded in my last 240 with just under 380k on it, and I have a couple of friends who are both well over 400k on theirs.

Also, they're almost indestructible.

"I have no use for a truck and it's bed."

"It's overall useless to me in the non winter season."

You have no use for it until you have a use for it. And one day, you will. And as far as it being useless in the non winter season, so will any other car you buy, since it'll just be sitting there the same way a truck would while you drive the Porsche.

Trucks aren't that bad, I promise. The only reason you hate then is because you've talked yourself into hating them. Most of the things you mentioned above that are 'problems' can be learned or gotten over with a better attitude. Just my 2 cents.
