Actually if he doesn't buy it he'll be screwed. Ze Porsche Gods will be pissed at him for giving up a perfectly usable Porsche.
You'll only be screwed if he hands it down to you. Then you won't be able to sell it without feeling their wrath. You'll be especially screwed if you sell it to someone that doesn't maintain it and and parks it outside.

It's a serious roll of the dice. If the dealer sells it to a Porsche lover who will take care of the car then you're OK. But if they sell it to a jerk then you're screwed...
It wasn't a risk I was willing to take when my lease ended. If I ever sell the 997 I will find a gearhead who will love it. Maybe K Roll will buy it one day.

BTW the moar I learn about the Ferrari warranty and maintenance program the moar I see that anyone who buys a new Ferrari should DD the hell out of it.
The warranty is for 3 years and the free maintenance is for 7 years. And I think you can purchase extended warranty as well.
If you spend that much on a car you may as well extend the warranty and put as many miles on it within 7 years as possible. It should be treated like a car with a Carmax warranty. Drive the living piss out of it and hope that expensive stuff that's covered by the warranty breaks. Use up the consumables that are covered by the maintenance program as much as possible.
It would totally make sense to try to put over 150K on the car in the first 7 years. That would be awesome...

The weird thing is that they were really nice to me when I went in a few months ago even though I wasn't close to ready for a car like that. They still answered all my questions and said they'd be there for me if I was later ready to order a car.
The sales guy followed up a few times via email and answered more questions that came up. Recently I asked him another question and then nothing. Either he thinks I'll never be able to make it happen or got annoyed or something.

Similar experience with a friend of mine. About the only Ferrari I could manage to get into is something from the 80s but he captains a fishing boat in Alaska and does quite well for himself. Virginia is just his off season home. I knew a guy from a Ferrari dealership from a state just south of mine and took him down for a test drive. He and the guy I knew seemed to have a great time. My fisherman friend didn't want to get the California then though, but pick it up after his summer season results. When they came back he called up the dealership and got completely blown off. I tried to contact the guy I knew and got blown off. My friend eventually settled for being mistreated by a Land Rover dealership instead and came to the conclusion that their treatment was somehow good given how he was treated by the Ferrari place. One of those should've called Automatch Tom lessons in retrospect I suppose.
