I emailed Mountune this morning because I saw a badge on their website that says "Warranty Friendly Product" and wanted to know exactly how that worked.

*This poor girl is stock except for the removal of the Fiesta badge. Does that count as a mod?

Kinja'd!!!

There is supposedly a intake/tune package offered through their website that bumps power for the Fiesta ST up to around 215 HP/~235 ft lbs of torque which sounds like warranty status is not affected.

The response I received this morning:

Hi Derek,

Thanks for your interest in our products. Certain items we offer can be installed at your Ford dealer with out voiding your factory power train warranty. I have added the a copy of the joint Ford / Mountune warranty for your review. The first two pages would cover the Fiesta.

Some products, especially those that increase the power would need to be covered by this warranty otherwise you could run into problems with your factory warranty coverage if there was an issue.

Products like the charge pipe upgrade may be added to the list of covered parts in the future but as you can imagine, having a range of products approved by Ford is a monumental task and does take some time.

However parts like the charge pipe upgrade increase engine response so there is no issue of that product causing harm.

The Ford Mountune warranty information was just released last week in the USA so at the moment, many Ford dealers are not yet aware of the program. In the coming weeks, Ford Racing will introduce the line to all Ford dealers in North America so they will soon be aware of the products and their warranty friendly status.

In the meantime, feel free to show the attached document to your dealer and and enjoy performance

without the hassles of putting your warranty at risk.

As for the FAQ, we are working on that and hope to have something in place soon. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. We appreciate the feedback.

Thanks

Ken

I really want someone to take the Fiesta badge, cut off 'esta', and move the 'Fi' next to the ST logo. I know it won't fit where it is, but if you relocate the ST badge somewhere else it should work. Also do it to the grill.

COBB is definitely more cost effective, but the engine mapping wouldn't be covered if it was part of the problem (not sure if they could ever tell if you chipped it or not). I'm curious as to how FiST clutches will hold up with upgrades. I can't see the COBB engine mount affecting the warranty though...

I wonder how much of a dick the would mechanic would have to be to say "nope, this guy modified his car, can't fix it under warranty."

Fuck the warranty. Cobb is the best.

yeah, I think they can't possibly ding you on warranty for using the COBB rear engine mount... even without a power increase, I thinking of getting one... and then maybe the Mountune MP215...

Right, thats my biggest fear. This is my first new car and I'd like to keep the warranty intact for the full duration. I really like Cobb stuff, but my wife would murder me if I modded our new car and something got screwed up because of it. Clutch is a non-warrantied issue that I'd have to try to explain away to her as well, I suppose!

Well, I don't even know what that part would affect with the Magnuson-Moss act thing. It seems like it'd have to completely break and cause problems for it to be an issue. I've been thinking about that piece too.

Yeah I think all FiST owners have that part in mind at some point. Out of curiosity did you get the 5 year comp warranty? Or the 3 year comp/5 year drivetrain? and did you get the labour package dealio?

Do you have any idea why it's double the COBB stage 1 and doesn't include the rear engine mount?

I'm on 60 months of payments, so i got the 5-year comp.

Yeah I have it on for now, not sure if the labour package is worth it though... I'm on a 36 month payment so it's a bit trickier, its $44 a month for 5 year comp, and $60 a month for the 5 year maintenance package, I just have the 5 year comp as it stands now.

What if the car devlops rattles? The RMM causes additional vibrations and they could blame that (and it might actually be the cause). That is what I worry about and why I am looking at mounts that look closer to stock. Like the one from boomba.
