My dad said he'll put it under a cover for a while but Timing Belt service is here and it'll cost a lot. Oppo, is it worth it to do the timing belt on it or is it time to let it go.

What year TL and how many miles? If it's a 2001-2004 TL, is it on an original trans? I had an independent shop do the timing belt in my 2001 CL Type S and it only cost about 350, way less than what the car is worth.

Almost always better to fix rather than get something new.

It's a 2000 TL on the original transmission. Never given us a problem yet.

Okay, but I gotta know how many miles, bud.

Oh whoops, didn't see that. I think it's at 110-115k right now.

Whatever you do, just know that the TL, like most Hondas, is an interference engine, so if the belt breaks, the valves are bent and the engine is toast.
Me car probably needs a t-belt too, but I have a non-interference engine and no money or time to replace it.
How many miles do you put on it?

Unless it's in bad shape then definitely do the timing belt and do it soon, unless you were already planning on selling it. That's not bad mileage for a car of that age. My CL is at 110,000 now, I had the timing belt done at 105,000. If the timing belt breaks you'll get scrap value for the car because your valves will be bent and the engine will be ruined. Usually these timing belts can last a lot longer than 105,000 miles (when they're supposed to be changed) but there's plenty of reports on the Acura forums of theirs breaking.
Just have a not shady shop do the timing belt. Don't take it to Acura, they charge "premium car prices" for their maintenance.

When I left in May, it had 110-115k, my dad dd'd it to work 4 out of 5 days a week so I assume it has 117-120k now.

My dad is actually planning to sell it now but I told him to keep it for me until December when I come back to drive it one last time during Winter Break before he sells it. He'd probably want to do timing belt so it's safer for me to drive but he mainly want to get rid of it to reduce the number of old cars on our driveway after getting a Sienna last weekend.
Should I just cry in a corner for a good couple of hours and then call him and tell him to sell it when he's able to.

I'd do the belt. I've seen the nasty results when people don't. Even if y'all are considering selling it.

haha ok ok so about 2000 miles a month, so like 20-25k per year (which is what I was looking for)
It's probably way overdue (doesn't Honda usually call for replacement at 90k?)
Does the December timeframe listed in the title of your OP have any significance? Because you'll probably have like 125-130k then with the same driving patterns.
If you do replace it, get the Aisin kit, which contains all the OE parts from the OE suppliers.

It'll drop to less than 300 miles a month since my dad will be splitting his time between his LS and the Sienna now and just driving the TL to make sure it doesn't stop working completely. I never knew when to change the timing belt, which worries me cause I've been reading 90-105k like you said and mine is way over that. My dad will probably get the mechanic we always go to to do the service x-x

It will probably run about $600 or so
