Beep Beep. Turns out a 95 5.8L E-150 Standard length Club Wagon fits! With the rear tire tread literally half on half off, splitting down the hub, and BOTH sides of the trailer touching the oversized front tires (I run 30x9.50r15 Falken Wildpeak ATs on it.) I deflated the front tires a tad and ratcheted them tight to make it fit. This is the '7.5' trailer, and with the red van it was siting at... 7450lbs according to the truck scale. So at every limit. 2250lbs of cargo on a pallet in the 3500, the rig was crossing the scales at just under 17500.
I drove this entire combo ~390 miles, doing 55-60mph the entire time. It tracked straight and true, with no difficulties. My 6.0L equipped van didnt break a sweat, over a ton under its towing capacity with this combination. The picture is a bit misleading, but the vehicles both sat level once i got out of the grass.
Acceleration was fine for such a heavy rig, and i had plenty of passing power when it was needed. The 6 speed transmission didnt hunt for gears, and happily kicked down when it needed to. Fuel economy was not too bad, averaging 13mpg for the whole trip.

not bad on all accounts. Im amazed the suspension isn't dropping more with all that weight.

The 3500 express is a very firm suspension vehicle, running one ton truck springs. When i hitched on the trailer, it literally dropped about 3/4 of an inch. And half that was the tires.
