"Dsscats" (dsscats)

As a lot of you know, I found a screw in my tire yesterday. I took it down to America's Tire to be repaired today, but no dice. They said it was too close to the sidewall for them to know for sure if they could repair it and once they took it off the rim, they couldn't put it back on.
So here's where I need some advice. Someone on one of the 300ZX pages is selling a stock set of wheels with good tires for $150. America's Tire said they could put a single new tire on that rim for $130, but it wouldn't be a matching brand. I'm tempted to buy the stock wheels and then see if they can repair the tire. If not, then I'll just rock stock wheels until I get enough cash to replace both back tires.
So my question is this: what thinks you, Oppo?

I'd get the wheels. You could use them for winters, or just sell them later once you wear the tires out. Much cheaper in the long run. One new tire wont make the other three last longer.

New wheels for $150 is definitely the better option hands down.

Stock until you replace the back tires.
Also, bonus set of winter wheels now.

Or used. I'm sure they're harder to come by in that size, but used tires are the way to go.

First, the standard rule should be, and all your friends should know, NEVER get rid of your stock wheels when buying aftermarket wheels and tires for THIS REASON exactly. I spent 18 years with a top 25 tire company in the Northeast and heard this same story over and over again. Buy the stockers! What if you damaged a wheel? Same thing applies. Love the 300 BTW, sweet car.

Definitely get the spares. I went through a seemingly never-ending pain in the ass year after getting a screw in one of my relatively new tires that couldn't be repaired.
Had to buy TWO new tires to keep them balanced wear-wise in the back (AWD), then rotate them at odd intervals to get the newer ones to wear quicker than the old ones. It was a huge headache.
Get the wheels, and save for another new set of tires while you wear the used tires out.

Thanks! Unfortunately, the guy who owned the car before me did all the mods and junked the stock parts :(

Stock wheels. No brainer to me.
Hell, I like the stock ones better than what's on the car now.

Yeah, it kinda sucks, but all the mods are somewhat tasteful and can be undone easily.
