well was practicing for the next points race to choose my car and....I ran a 1:28 on Laguna Seca but I go to check the leader board....I still need to loose 4 seconds to be able to compete with some of the top runners. Anyone want to help me try and loose those 4 seconds?

Post a video of your laps so we can have a visual.

My guess is Andretti Hairpin, slowing waaaaaaay too much for the Corkscrew (it's a downhill chicane, treat it as a chicane), and Turn 11 (the last turn).

These guys have tunes that they've spent many, MANY hours on perfecting for those specific tracks. They also know how to run on the absolute ragged edge of speed around these tracks, and some of them use little tricks to gain a laptime advantage. Also, most of them are lame and use traction control. I once watched an R2 #1 time lap around Road America that was done in a C6.R. The guy would barely dip into the grass to help turn and slow down. I've never managed, and I don't think I ever will. I'll settle for being in the top 2% on most of my laptimes. I run with all assists off (minus rewind because it's just a game and I don't want one screw up to ruin my 8 lap race).

I think your best bet is to just keep pushing to better your own times and forget about coming close to the top runners, unless you're absolutely dead serious about running with the top times. Then you gotta start really digging on the Forza forums and have a hell of a lot of free time and patience. Watching Forza replays is problematic sadly, because it's not 100% accurate to how the car was actually driven around a track. I watched one of my own replays of taking a Venom GT around the 'Ring and it looked incredibly jerky and impossible. The car seemed to turn later than it should and would then snap around the turn.

I don't have any way of filming it unless Xbox one can Record TV

None of those cars should be capable of running better than 1:35 unless they've had aero kits, racing slicks, suspension parts, and significant increases in horsepower. IMSA GT Daytona cars can't break 1:26... GTLM cars are in the 1:23/1:22 range but they have massive aero advantages. So how you're expecting to run a 1:24 without a full on race car is beyond me.

Collection of driving advice that's helped me on Need for Speed: Prostreet:

-Once you take your foot off the throttle, it should immediately go onto the brake pedal.

-Brake BEFORE you turn the wheel.

-Don't put your foot/finger on the accelerator until you know that you won't have to take it off again after a corner.

-Use the track, Luke.

-The PS3 has a potentiometer in its accelerate/brake buttons. What this means is that it actually responds to not only if you're pressing the throttle, but how hard you're pressing the throttle. I'm not sure if the X360 has this, but it's worth a try.

-Cars? Never underestimate the power of tuning. A simple engine upgrade may be all that stands between you and those last 4 seconds.

-Particular models that I've gotten results with are an E46 M3 with every upgrade possible on it (also has the best sound in the whole game... like a remixed Godzilla roar!), an RX-8 (you'll have to drive differently though... in no form does it produce torque), and turbo 911s with suspension upgraded to get rid of understeer.

Hope this helps.

I mean I have a tune from one of the top 5 finishers still in my car that allowed me to run that time. I also improved it fom 1:35 to 1:28 with in 4 laps. So I have made some improvements.

those are just photos I used to pretty up the article. No I'm running after a The #08 Gallardo in Forza 4 driven by a OPPO.

The thing is, with Forza 3 and 4, a lot is different than NFS and while certainly most of what you said applies, there are some differences. For example, trail braking in Forza is easily possible, especially if you shift the brake balance 4-7% to the rear and install and adjust the decel setting on a 2 way diff.

The Xbox 360's and One's triggers aren't buttons, they're progressive throttles. The more you press "the more they activate." Forza would be impossible without traction control and ABS if that weren't the case.

The Forza games have always placed a huge emphasis on tuning. You can change a massive plethora of parts, put cars on a diet, add spoilers, and you have detailed tuning settings such as bump and rebound stiffness, differential settings, caster, camber, toe, tire pressure front and back, etc. If you install a full race transmission you can adjust final drive and individual gear ratios. Most of the full race spec cars like GT3, GT2, GT1, LMP etc already have the best components available and generally don't allow for engine upgrades other than removing restrictors. With that in mind, I'm sure Cherry_Man has already messed with all the appropriate upgrades he can without pushing his car into a different class.

Hmm. I've never played Fourza (having a moral problem with the evil contained in X360 consoles =P), but the tuning seems suprisingly similar to NFS. Thanks for the info- it sounds like a hybrid of NFS's anoraky bits and GT4's phisicky bits.

Honestly dude, the GT (I assume that's what you're using?) just doesn't have the handling for Laguna Seca. The Gallardo's a good choice and if you don't own one it'd be a good investment since shorter tracks like Infineon and the Nurburgring GP are on the calendar. Also maybe try taking TC and ABS off? It'll suck for the first few days of practice but both will actually decrease your times once you get used to them. All that and a storefront tune should knock a few seconds off your lap time.

BTW I ran in the high 1:24's in my untuned Viper and Wrath was consistently in the mid-1:26's with his Panoz so it's not like you're too far off.

I did take the Lambo out and was faster I think I did make it into 1.27 but it was dirty so it didn't record it. But to me I'm driving the GT and Gallardo in the same time 1.28s

I really wish I knew what I was doing wrong. I can't even break 1:25 with a tuned Viper. And I really wish the damn servers would let me look at your Gallardo replay.

The Viper's weird because it's so nose-heavy; you have to turn in early even with trail-braking, but it's super stable so you can get on the power earlier and use the kerbs which is what I think makes me so quick. What car do you plan on using? If it's the Viper Wrath sent me a tune that made the front grippier at the expense of rear stability, you could ask him about making one for you. The game counts both Vipers as separate cars and he made it for the #91 (I own the #93), so he sent me the #91 and I took pics of the tune settings which I could post on here if you'd like. I like the stock tune better but was just as quick with Wrath's, I guess it just depends on how you drive.

I actually ran my Viper against the Lambo's lap and I was a few car-lengths ahead up until the Corkscrew and Turn 9. The Gallardo was just supernaturally fast in the last four or so turns but it's definitely lacking straight-line speed.

I was planning on sticking with my GT, but thinking of switching to my second/third choices (C6.R ZR1 & #93 Viper) if I could manage to run faster times with one of them. Best I've managed is 1:25.053(?) in the GT, 1:25.5— in the Viper, and 1:26 in the C6.R. I've been doing a combination of trying new lines with different tunes (including store-bought tunes because I just don't trust myself with this track). Those times were set after I just made some changes to my line, though, and were set with store times (except for the C6.R), so I haven't tried them with my tunes yet.

I really think the issue is more how I'm handling the track. I managed an 1:25.1— in my GT the other day with my tune, and I have no idea what I did to get that at the time.

Definitely. The problem with Laguna Seca, especially the last half, is that you can lose a ton of time on extremely minor mistakes (I race a really specific line so anything off that takes chunks out of my times). I saved a replay to my storefront (don't remember why) where my laps varied by a second, and it was only on lap 10 that I got a 1:24.5 so it took a while to even get that. Laguna Seca's just a weird track, man.

Also if you don't already, take the long left-hander after the Corkscrew as close to flat out as possible. I swear that's where I get all my time from.
