I saw my first crew cab in the movie "Overboard" when I was growing up. It was a Dodge D Series like in the picture above. My child self thought that triangle between the front and rear doors was the one of the greatest automotive crimes against humanity, along with Chrysler's then-obsession (late '80s-early '90s) with near-vertical rear windows, such as that found on the Plymouth Acclaim, Chrysler New Yorker, etc.

While I was stationed at Sigonella, Sicily US Navy base, we had trucks very similar to these in 1976, to shuttle our Navy flight crews from the briefing rooms to the P3C Orions out on the airfield. Flight crew cab.
