After deciding that I was going to finally spring for an exhaust for my car, I found that the one I'd settled on is on backorder for a month or two. So, instead of waiting for it to come back in stock, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on something else I'd been wanting to do ever since I got the car: delete the primary cats and get a tune.
Gains are impressive; can't wait to feel (and hear) the difference.

where did you get this done in Oklahoma? My moms been looking into trading her Range Rover SC in for a e92 m3 and I would like her to get stuff like this done to it!

It's not done yet, but I'm planning do to the work myself. Look up BPM Sport.

Oklahoma don't care.

Ah, gotcha. I always wanted to get some test pipes for the E90, but never did.

Can't wait to hear about it, especially the software changes. What's the change to the steering? Just heavier? I really wish there was some way to do JUST 240E (that didn't involve some m3post wizard remotely coding my car).

Yeah, he maps it to dial back the amount of assist, so it feels more direct.

I'm sure you can get the 240E from a dealer (for a price)...

Glad I finally got up the nerve to do it.
Everyone on the forum gushes about his tune and his Servotronic changes.

Thanks. Looking forward to feeling them!

Would be interesting if you did the test pipe install first, let the car adjust, and THEN did the tune. I think a catless exhaust is good for about 30hp on our cars if I recall correctly, and the catless + tune is said to be "40-ish." At a thousand dollars, the tune seems to be a pretty pricey way to turn off the emissions light and gain a handful of HP...unless you want the other bits and bobs like the steering tweaks, euro MDM, exhaust burble thing, etc. The other option, of course, is the Akra delete-R that just turns off the dash light (mucho cheaper). Would love to have your opinion with test pipes pre and post tune, since I trust you about 6 billion times more than the forum fanboys.

EAS says "gains as high as 20hp/20lb-ft TQ with no aftermarket software".
Spending a grand on the tune is a lot, but I feel like the value is there. You're taking an ECU programmed for California emissions and letting is breathe as freely as it can for performance and optimizing for the octane you have available locally. The Servotronic tune is going to be a big plus, and the raised redline, removed limiter, and launch control are all icing on the cake. Euro MDM not included, unfortunately (that's coding, not tuning), but I may get Alex@Alpine to hook me up there.
How long do you think the ECU would take to adjust? There probably will be a little time between me getting the pipes on and me getting the tune done (will get an assist from Benvo to get it work on my Mac).
One of the guys I really trust over at M3Post is Warot (W///), and he's been an evangelist for Benvo's engine tune and Servo changes ever since he got them done. It is quite a big of coin, but I'm feeling certain that I'll feel that the changes are worth it.
I'll probably never supercharge mine (never say never, I guess), so making a change like this makes me feel my car will be set up more like the M engineers would like to have had the car from the factory, if they were given no restrictions (by BMW or by emissions standards).

I see benefit to all that, just wondering if you'll really feel the difference between test pipes alone and test pipes + tune. I think the car will adjust pretty quickly with some mixed driving. I'd feel comfortable that the ECU will be fully adjusted after a day or two of using the car. Mine's never (ever. period.) getting a supercharger. It's already more capable than I am on the track. Raised redline is definitely cool, as is the removal of the limiter (for when you and I make the trip out to COTA!). Launch control is a gimmick, but a cool one if you're into that =P
Maybe the tune will help you even more on 91 octane - we have 93 around here so I've never driven the car on 91 (in fact, it's probably never had 91 in it since it was built). I wonder if that actually makes a difference...

Not sure if our cars could get faster than 155 on the back straight, but I'd love to try! Maybe the Texas Mile? Honestly, I've never been brave (or stupid) enough to take mine over 135 to this point. I know that these cars do it all the time on the Autobahn or the 'Ring, but my mind wanders to what would happen if I had a blowout at those speeds...
95 RON = ~91 AKI, so it probably really doesn't matter that much, but you know how it is, you always want to get the best you can get.
Launch control definitely is a gimmick. I'll probably use it once to see how it works and then never again - ha! The Servotronic change seems like it's much more substantial, and less assist should mean more feedback and feel.
I'll try to get a drive in before, after the pipes, and after the tune, to see what differences I can feel.

Nice! When's all this going down? If you post something about it this weekend you might have to nudge me on this thread. I don't think I'll have any time for Oppo after tomorrow at about lunchtime, because I'm going to be at Summit Point all weekend for my 5th and 6th track days of the season. =)

Ahhh!!! So jealous. Have fun. Looking forward to getting out for a weekend at Hallett this fall, and getting involved with my BMWCCA's autox as well.
Package should be here tomorrow - hopefully I'll have the time to work on it this weekend.
