Have you tried having higher MCAT scores?

Maybe you should become a dermatologist. Make huge bank writing RXes for acne meds.

I really need that glorious MD/PhD for future research purposes.

Im slowly revising my stance on that and thinking of taking up knitting.

Then your patient dies of skin cancer and you feel sad.

Not sad after taking a bath in a tub full of cash monies.

EDIT: Being an eye doctor is pretty easy work, but there are weekends involved. No time to play golf!

Is it easier just to punch the schools that have backwards application processes in the face? Or does that sour the proceedings.

generally, it sours proceedings. its increasingly hard to get into US Allopathic programs. When I applied a few years ago the average MCAT was 27. Word has it, its been marchin up.

Canada is an equally spectacular gongshow.

I appreciate Australia. 3 page application. Send in transcripts and MCAT scores. No references or interviews. Just sit and wait for them to call back.

Why can't ever school be less anal. Why do I need to enter every single course I ever took when I'm sending you the bloody transcript anyways.

who knew that the path to 6-7 figure salaries would be hard?

They have limited spots, everybody who thinks he or she is smart wants one, it cost a lot of money to put a student though four years of medical training, etc. This ain't law school.

FWIW, Australian students are generally far less capable upon graduation.

6-7 figures is... 100.000/1.000.000

Holy shit, is that what medics make in the US?

depending on specialty, medical doctors in the US are paid between 100,000 and over 1 million dollars per year. that being said, the national average across all specialities is around 200-250k.

Damn right it ain't law school. I think I sent in my law school application while drunk one weekend. It was all online and they even waived the application fee.

Ouch... We get a tenth of that here. Of the 100 thousand that is. And appendicectomy, for example, nets a surgeon about 50 bucks, if done through the public health system, which requests the majority of them.
