Brought the Uplander in for servicing on Friday and just found this next to my driver seat. Not sure how I didn't catch it when I picked it up Friday. But it has two knobbies and a sliding plate .

*so looks like we have a bunch of auto enthusiasts here or something and the mystery rod has been identified as a brake prop

looks like a brake prop. Technician can wedge it in between the seat and the brake pedal to keep the brakes applied for various services that might require it.

brake prop. I used it mostly on the alignment machine or to check the brake lights

I would guess some kind of device to hold down a pedal, maybe for checking tail lights? No idea really though.
