Just got back from getting an iced coffee, and even though I parked in the end corner, the right side of the rear bumper just got badly scuffed.. I'm beyond enraged right now, and the asshat didn't leave a note either. 6 month old car. So difficult to keep my cool. There are surveillance cameras there, I want to get the person who did it... I WANT IT FIXED.
Grr..
Here's the parking lot:
Red is where I parked, NOT sticking out at all (It's a GTI..), and the blue circle is where I got hit. No bumper dents, just really badly scuffed.
This is reason #937 as to why I can't wait to get off of this hellhole of a place.
Here's damage:

Where is this "hellhole?"
If Florida, I understand.

:(
People are bad.

This hellhole is Long Island, New York. Most obnoxious people you will ever meet, it's overpopulated to the point where you have to wait for the light to turn green for the second time because you can't make it the first, where we have the highest costs for everything like utilities out of the entire country, and we have horrid roads.. So, much worse than Florida.

Clearly that's your fault.
Should have opted for the levitation option from the factory :p
/sorry bout your misfortune bud

People are bad. Agreed. >:(

Oh! That makes just as much sense actually. A lot of people I know hate that place. I live in NY and have never been there. Probably never will.

Long Island is just terrible.. The people are downright horrible. Not saying everyone, but the majority are. Place just has bad vibes..

I remember sitting there when that option was presented to me.. How foolish of me to not get it. :/

Run for the hills! Monthly power bills are in the thousands here, and that's not if you have a massive McMansion or anything..

Don't plan on going there anytime soon. I want to live either where I am now (Orange County), or the city.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:15 |

This whole situation couldve been avoided if people just paid attention while driving. Parking aint fucking hard.
Sorry about the car man.

Orange County is perfect.

Your statement can't be more true. People just don't know how to drive...

Only an hour away from Monticello Motor Club too! Now all I need is a membership...

We don't have a single racetrack in Long Island, and "Riverhead Raceway" is for demolition derbies..
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:22 |

I think it's more that they know how to drive, they're just off in their own little world and not concentrating on what they're doing. A little bit more attention paid and there'd be a huge amount less incidents in cars.

The light thing might be just poor infrastructural design. We got those all over down here in Florida, and I feel like they're due to whoever controls the light timing not taking into account the amount of cars needing to make a left at certain times of day.
There's one here in my town by the walmart that's timed for 4 seconds of green. 4 seconds? What fucking line up of cars and drivers can clear out in that time? I'd get it if vettel, hamilton, kimi, and the stig all shopped there and did so with F1 cars, but these are asthmatic old retirees in Camrys and RVs! The traffic on that street really isn't bad, but 15 cars can end up trapped their easily because of that one shitty light.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:23 |

People just don't think while driving. Texting, eating, drinking, no one really cares.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:23 |

But hey, at least you have horrible traffic jams!
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:25 |

That's certainly poor design. Lately I've been seeing wire strips all over various roads around here, and I'm guessing that they are counting the number of cars that go by. Hopefully they will change the timing of the lights at major intersections.

Thanks! I love them, they're great!

Did you ask in store for camera footage or contact the police if they wouldn't?
In the U.K. it's classed as failure to stop at an accident and failure to leave insurance details with the store or on your car carries a fine and points on their licence.
I hope it's sorted soon, most should polish out barr some spots.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:28 |

There are cameras around that area. There's a sign right above the camera. I'm going to get the footage.

Yep. Frustrates the hell out of me.

It infuriates me just as much.. I really hate it.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:35 |

Yep, just saw your update with the damage. I've seen good bodyshops (especially on a new car) fix damage like that for under £100 (about $170) by just repainting the spot and blending the paint. Sometimes even less than that. Hopefully it all gets put right for cheap.

To the perpetrator:
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:37 |

I don't know U.S. or individual state law but try in store and if they won't surrender the footage to you, contact the police and they will/should surrender it to the police and get a 'crime number' from them at let your insurance do the rest, after all it's what you pay them for.
Good luck getting it sorted soon fella.

Good news is that we have a very close friend with a very reputable auto-body shop business. He's doing the work personally too. It will be much cheaper, though out of courtesy I'll still pay a bit more than his quote.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 16:41 |

Thanks a bunch.

Oh, definitely. Screw them!!! >:(
![]() 07/20/2014 at 17:32 |

so some of that can be easily fixed by yourself, but the areas that have paint loss, no way around bodywork and repainting. Sorry man :(
![]() 07/20/2014 at 17:52 |

I guess all I can say is that s**t happens. I keep thinking, it could of been worse. It could of been much worse.
![]() 07/20/2014 at 17:53 |

i dont understand how you can hit a car that has no ass?
![]() 07/20/2014 at 17:56 |
|
I honestly have no idea.. It doesn't have an ass!
![]() 07/20/2014 at 17:57 |

what i would do is get some fine rubbing compound and a bunch of rags, and see if you can clean the horizontal damage. The areas where the paint has been rubbed, just get a Dr. Colorchip kit, or some touch up paint and fix it. Its far cheaper than your insurance deductible, especially since its a sports hatch, you are male, and under 25. Otherwise, good luck with the new insurance premium.

Man, I had to drive down to Long Island this spring, and you are right about the crowds and the crappy roads. There was constant traffic everywhere we tried to go, and this was middle of the day when it should have been light. I can't even imagine what rush hour would be like.
![]() 07/21/2014 at 11:13 |

Rush hour is hell on Earth. It's just so bad. It's beyond bad actually...
