This is Oppo. If the Miata is OK then the 318i has to be OK too! Not like the Miata has a ton of power...

Yeah, but still. If you can get a 325 or 328 for the same price....
Manuιl Ferrari

07/19/2014 at 20:09 | 0 |
But can you? They probably cost more in the same condition and the same mileage. Because moar power...
Also the 318i has the most reliable engine known to man. I had an '84 318i. The car refused to die.
Are we still talking about a winter beater for K Roll or is he going to sell the FoST? I thought he wanted a winter beater so lots of power didn't seem important.

I don't know a lot about the E36 318i
If the early one had the same exact engine then it would be easy to maintain and you could turbo charge the hell out of it.
Did you know the block used in the E30 318 is the same one used in the turbo charged F1 car? That iron bastard could handle being boosted to over 1000 HP!

What do you think about this list revision? I like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. I'm surprised I kept 8 on the list so long. 7 is iffy because there isn't much info with the car other than new trans.

#7 looks kinda beat. I like #8 because it's so cheap with so many new parts, plus Saabs are easy to make power from.

Scratch that. I think I've figured this out:
1. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/4559349264
Looks rough, but god dammit is it tempting me to no end and I bet it would be the easiest to talk down because of the looks.
2. http://columbus.craigslist.org/clo/4573745448
It's a freaking Notch!! For that price!, could be talked down but because Notch I doubt it.
3. http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/457554
I feel as though it would be smarter to go with this one.
I know I want #1. I'm feeling that one pretty good!
Also, I still have the Saab that I can't close out of.. :P
Dsscats
> K-Roll-PorscheTamer
07/20/2014 at 02:02 | 1 |
Why not the purple vert? And my thoughts:
1. This is waaaaaay too rough for the price. He should be asking $2000
2. This is good, but the Speedo cable problem could mean he removed it for the odometer not to go up.
3. Pretty good, but with that discoloration and rear quarter, I feel like you might be able to do a bit better.

I'm not sure, but I found an alternative manual V8 Stang as well.
About an hour away. 2001 GT
http://annarbor.craigslist.org/cto/4554938414
I don't know what the big deal or difference between the 5.0 and 4.6 is though; other than the fact that saying you have a 5.0 is better.
I'll save the purple vert as an alternative.
Dsscats
> K-Roll-PorscheTamer
07/20/2014 at 02:27 | 0 |
That looks good, but find out what maintenance has ben done. 205k miles is high. And the 4.6 is the newer engine and is pretty much better than the 5.0. The 5.0 was phased out in 95ish.

07/20/2014 at 02:43 | 0 |
My goodness is this search near impossible! I don't think there's a clean V8 out there for $3k. I may have to go into dark territory next.....GM TERRITORY. -_-
I don't know squat about LS engines and whatnot, but if I have to get a Camaro or Firebird then so be it.
For now, Purple Vert is officially #1 until something else pops up.
Dsscats

07/20/2014 at 02:46 | 0 |
I'd say go for a Camaro, but for that price, you can't get an LS1 car. The LT1 cars are pretty good too, but just a little harder to work on. I'd also look for a post-91 C4 Corvette if possible. Avoid 81-92ish Camaros (basically the fox body equivalent) because they make NO power what do ever.
K-Roll-PorscheTamer
> Dsscats
07/20/2014 at 02:51 | 0 |
I don't know. I kinda like and hate Camro's of that gen. I do hate the 81-92 cars exterior-wise, but the ones after look pretty decent. I still think Mustangs look better because they have a similar design that's easily recognizable.
What's the difference between LT1 and LS1?
I'd totally rock a Vette; I've always wanted a C3, but I can guarantee that at some point I'll have to carry three people around and it's be a bad idea.
Is there anything a Camaro has that a Mustang doesn't that's good or better?
Dsscats
> K-Roll-PorscheTamer
07/20/2014 at 03:08 | 0 |
The Camaro of the generation doesn't have anything to particularly set it apart, other than the fact that some came with 6 speeds. The LS1 is a newer engine which is easier to make power out of, but the LT1 is basically the LS before the LS. It's decently powerful, easy to mod, pretty reliable and gets good gas mileage with a 6 speed.

07/20/2014 at 03:51 | 1 |
Well shit. If you like Camaros, I think I've found it.
http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/451089
It's got an LS1. The LS1 is an amazing engine. It gets up to 28 MPG highway, is very very reliable, is very easy to mod and comes with a 6 speed over the Mustang's 5.

It's not that I like them. It just seems easier to find Camaros is all? I will always say Mustang-Challenger-Camaro.
I'd take a Fierbird as well.

No on 3 because rust and cracked windshield, meh on 4 because high mileage V6, and eh on 5 because V6 auto with a HUGE dent. That's what I'm thinking. The 306 fix needs a new door and some interior work, but tats much easier to do/find. The first one looks good.

I'm gonna try to clear some out, but we must find more Foxes! :D
Lets see if we can find one between $2-2500, I don't mind if it needs some work, it just needs to be able to be driven home.
