I acknowledge that the looks took some getting used to, especially the coupe. But why does the car generate so much hate? Is it because it's different? Because the program has been plagued with reliability issues? Or do looks really matter that much? Is it Freudian?
Here's a few examples of comments I've read about the Deltawing.
"It caught fire? There is a god!"
"OMG it's so ugly!"
"Ballistic Dildo"
"I can't wait until it's illegal"
Personally, I have to give the program credit for being different, and trying a new approach to prototypes.

I love it personally, as an engineering excercise it fascinates me to see what they can do with it with more development. I think people hate because it's different mostly, that and the looks.

I assume the DW haters are former Grand-Am fans who want to see DP Prototurtles run around for the next century.

The hate runs as far back as late 2011 when the car was announced as the 2012 Le Mans Garage 56 entry.

I am personally not a fan of the vehicle because everything it tries to do (aside from the narrow front track) is already done in lower Prototype categories, and really it's funny to see that a D-Sports Racer has a faster outright lap time around Road America.
