So, one of my daughters is looking to buy her first car. I am spending the morning with her driving around to look at a few that we found so far. Her budget? $2500 or less in the San Diego area. She is attracted to older MBs and BMWs (it does not have to be either one, though). We'll be insuring it liability only so no problems with cars that hike rates up a bit. She's 17 and an excellent student so she gets the discount.

Whatcha got, Oppo? Help us find her first love :D

Better look for a beat up honda if you want a $2500 car that runs & drives, and will last a few thousand miles. A $2500 MB will likely require another $2500 up front to be road worthy.

Well of course, I got the Montego for 2500 bucks so don't be surprised if you can pull a KICK ASS MUSCLE CAR out of a garage somewhere! (there may be a few in my list!)

I don't particularly like German cars so I'm going to be drastically counter productive and provide American options in the price range provided (I can be completely useless sometimes lol)

That W116 was already on our list and we just got back from looking at it. It was really, really clean, in and out - all body panels and interior were perfect. No leaks, the windows all worked. the only negatives were a fast idle (no biggie), odometer doesn't work (maybe a risk?), and the temperature gage doesn't work (new sending unit/sensor needed?). It is definitely on our short list!

We've tried calling him but his voicemail box is full (I wonder why?). She sent him a text in case it's a mobile. If this isn't sold, I will talk her into buying it if it is as advertised. That thing is amazeballs for the price.

Best part is, garage/driveway repairs. Good luck on one of those newer German creations.

It has some SERIOUSLY high end options for the year. I know it's nuts but honestly the Clock is even an upgrade. my 68 Montego doesn't even have one because it was extra.

The LTD package on it is living up to it's name.
