Kinja'd!!!

So my wife said we can get a Fiesta ST, and there is one in town at another dealer that fits the bill (it has a moonroof we don't care about but I'll see if I can use it to haggle down the price).

We are going to to dealer tonight to sign stuff and I am both excited and scared. I am terrible at haggling and don't really know how to go about it. I've set the ball in motion for a bank draft for the downpayment so I'd rather stay with the dealer I've gone to (plus the other dealer is in the sketchy side of town, although I guess I could just service it at the dealer closest to me).

What sort of advice do you guys have? I need to set up insurance before I grab it, right? Do I need to bring plates? Or can I swing by a registry on the way home (I live in Alberta, CA)?

In conclusion,

Kinja'd!!!

Congratulations man. Remember though, that dealer won't want shit to do with you once you sign the dotted line. Don't sign based on promises of what they'll do after the sale. Enjoy your new hot hatch!

Congrats! If I didn't need the added size of the FoST, I would've given the FiST a drive to see how it compares.

There's a cute girl who drives a Tuxedo Black FiST around me. I've seen her driving the opposite direction of me a couple times, and once she was pulling out of the gas station as I was pulling in... One day the timing will be right and our paths shall cross!

Congratulations on the car and good luck btw!!!

I hit a couple different Ford dealers, even one that I didn't have any plans on buying from. They gave me a better price than the dealership I've done business with and negotiated with prior to the visit so I left after they wouldn't budge any more (it wasn't significant enough of a difference for me to abandon the place I liked). On the way home, hit the dealer I liked, told them the other place undercut them, waited a little bit, got an even better deal from them and got myself a car .

Good luck and enjoy!

I test drove the FoST yesterday and it was nice, but I don't really need the extra HP and I fit in there (6'4", 200ish) so I think I will be good with the FiST.

I own a FiST so maybe I could help you out, what's the price they are asking, and what's the model year and mileage?

Stick with the FiST, my ST group is predominately FoST's, and people are posting left and right about issues, mainly wiring issues, and some stalling ones. One guy had the stalling issues so bad and Ford couldn't fix it that he actually sold his FoST.

I believe it's 2014, I honestly don't know the milage on it. It had the grey wheels, nav and the moonroof.

Sounds like it may be fully optioned out. The big options for the FiST are the Recaro seats, nav, painted calipers, and moonroof. If you get the VIN, you could actually contact Ford and get the original window sticker on digits, it's what I did.

If it helps, mine is a 2014, fully decked out, every option except painted calipers here's my window sticker

Don't let them screw you, the 25k price is MSRP, at the dealership it was probably around 27 or 28k or so, I bought mine with 6k miles on it, at 23k. I didn't mind because it was literally the vehicle I wanted and I didn't feel like waiting 6 months for Ford to build mine.

These cars can take a lot of punishment but if it was driven hard, then it will need some work on it. Also if it is a 2014 then you still have the factory warranty on it, which covers everything except consumables, like brakes and all that.

In Canada the Recaros are in the base ST's now. Recommended as configured it's about 27K, it would be nice to at least get the amount for the moon roof taken off.

That's what Ford should have done from the start to be honest, make the Recaro's standard. If it has a moon roof then they will probably try to charge you an extra 1,000 for that, because moonroof and shit. If it's used, and has over 8k miles, I honestly would not pay a dime over say, 21k. It's not worth it if it's more, especially considering you can have Ford build you one to your configurations for about 4k more then that.

My space requirements were kid-hauling related. I needed a little bit more cargo room for hockey gear, as well. Difference in price between the FoST and FiST at the dealer I went to was $300...granted, I didn't try and work a deal on the FiST, and that's the difference after what I got the Focus down to (rebates!)

Apparently it's on the showroom floor so it's going to be really low kM's. That dealer just did a phone quote for 26,098, phoned the first dealer and asked him what he can do and we'll see what he says.

Wow that is impressive. I've been quoted 26098 for th FiST, which is about 4 grand less than the FoST was, plus it has nav and a sunroof, options I don't think I would get on the FoST.

edit: We only have a small dog right now, but kids would probably be okay until they had to fit behind my seat. Incidentally the FiST has more leg room the the FoST when the drivers seat is all the way back, that surprised me.

I have an ST1, no options. With rebates and the extra rebate by going through Ford credit, I ended up at $19,700 for the FoST. The same dealer had a silver FiST for $19,400, although I'm unsure what trim level.

Eh, that's close, but I would ask to see if they'd knock off 1,000, at least. I would let them know that with that asking price, you can get a brand new one for just a few thousand more.

Base is $24 and change, including destination. When I bought back in May, Ford had $3500 in rebates available ($1000 for going through Ford credit, some weird $500 Sync n Sound rebate, and a regular $2000 rebate on the ST itself). Dealer also did a $1k "lease conquest" rebate. With that, I was down to $20k without really doing anything. Haggled a couple of hundred more off . With a trade in, it worked out to no sales tax as well. So $19,700 was my out the door price, before applying the positive equity from my trade. I probably could've haggled a bit further, but was comfortable with the price.

I got my 2014 FoST ST3 for just under $27k with every option but the Rado Grey wheels. I'd shop around a bit, people have gotten even less than that.

I didn't when I bought it because I bought mine through carmax. But I plan on getting an undercarriage spray done sometime soon. I'm also trying to get a custom made skid plate, because the fiesta st doesn't come with a belly pan of any sort

A lot of people say that. My 944 came out of the factory with an undercarriage spray and has spent the last 14 years on the east coast. There is not a lick of rust anywhere underneath that car. Something is better than nothing.

Either way don't think I'll get it done at the dealer. I'll probably get the clear bra put on there assuming I can see some that have already been done.

What I've heard about the underbody spray is that if there is a chip that lets salt or water get in between the coating and the frame it's worse than not having the coating. I'll have to look into it more.
