It was only a matter of time before my buddy dyno'ed his CL65 AMG.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
At this past weekend's cars and coffee, we dyno'ed it. They couldn't measure the torque for some reason, but we did measure horsepower. Watch the video to find out what it ended up being! Factory spec was 604 hp back in 2005.

where did the 100 or so horses go?

age and drivetrain loss presumably. I think the new specs are crank? But I could be wrong. If so, that number is about right for 10-20% drivetrain loss.

great question! age maybe?

considering a drivetrain loss of about 15%... this thing has only lost about 20hp. But every dyno is different and there is no baseline to go off of. I'd say this thing did great!

Power is right in line. He did not lose 100 horsepower, it's flywheel hp vs. wheel hp.

As others stated 10-20% drivetrain loss, a hot July Texas day (another loss of 10-20hp), 70k miles on car. And not to mention the dyno crew couldn't get properly clipped onto the coils. I think it's due for another dyno in January when it's a 70° day here in good 'ol Austin. I expect to see ~500 hp to the wheels on a cool day.
