Wasn't there a dude recently who did just that?

Also, can someone please explain how this is possible? Do the blades change to reverse pitch or something? I can't imagine how those lightweight parts can handle the high forces required to change directions so violently.

i think so, that is the only way that the copter could fly upside down. It looks so strange, like it defies physics .

Yup, they're variable pitch. I flew 3D RC choppers for a while and they're a blast...but it gets expensive because as you're pushing your limits there's bound to be a lot of crashes. Look up some doing 'tick-tocks' for something you'll never see in human flight (or just look up some 3d flight demos).

yea he was one of the world's best. The blades are carbon river with an insane speed. His trick was that he'd fly it up high, kill the engine then bring it back to life before it hit the ground. Well it got away and the blades cut through his head. At least it was instant though.
