According to this, somewhere between 12 - 21 years from now, we will not be able to buy a regular autonomous car, or it will be only a limited number of cars have the option to be in control. That'll put me at 40-49. I better still be able to buy a car I can drive for fun when I retire.

only self driven cars will be sold in the US in 2030?
good luck to anyone taking Americans' cars from them. may as well ask them to adopt the metric system.

they definitely can't ban driver-operated cars. aside from the fact that they'd still be needed for things like emergency response services, driving is far too much a part of human culture for any society to be able to ban it. at worst, they'll be restricted to tracks intended for the purpose.
