Not here for an argument. I am no fan boy or a dagum enthusiast. I like all cars and car culture. In my eyes, there is not a BEST car of any segment. Each has their own thing and style. Engineering isn't 100% only from Germany. I've owned 7 German cars and trust me, I didn't buy them because of "road feel" or "handling" because they were all clumsy, slow, and pigs. Maintenance was never truly an issue since I am a service technician by trade. ASE master with L1 and multi brand master.

I really like the sleekness of the Dart. I just feel that the Focus is a blast. They all have their thing. Personally IMO, in this class, i'd go with this color blue Corolla S with those sweet wheels and a manual. I might blend in with the rest of the crown but oh well, i'm not trying to impress anyone.

If I were to combine the value of my current cars, they wouldn't equal the cost of the Corolla S. But hopefully in the near future I could be in that position, if so, blue Corolla S will be my DD.

....of course for the weekend >:]

in terms of juts commuting and such. Sure, im down. Though I don't think I'd have a preference at all between competitors.

Agreed, I think the base model looks rather nice. Silver 5-speed base with the hubcaps popped off? Would DD

Even so, if I had a Z06 right now i'd never go past 55mph in my everyday commuting, lol. But on that weekend tho, vvrrrrooooom ! Car segments have become so tight. Sucks that most people do not do a valid for of research but they are free to get what they want.

I drive these a lot now, since I got a job at a Toyota/Scion dealership for the Summer. They're actually really nice cars for the price. The steering felt a little numb and the clutch seemed strangely electronic and a bit too light, but overall it felt almost identical to drive as an FRS. It's definitely one of the best cars Toyota has put out in a good long time.

a looong time :] The Hertz at my dealer has these and yes, clutch is way too light for my liking but dang, most new cars under $40k have soft and long clutches unfortunately. As for steering feel, none of my cars have had anything go home raving about. Heck, some of the AMG's and Astons here at my dealer are anything more than meh.

Certainly is, just not my cup of tea. I hate how most Toyota's drive as well (I have many miles in an 09 camry).

For the money and desire for MPG's, I would spend less on a superior car. Just my opinion though.

My last three cars (note: I've only owned 3 cars) have been either old or performance-oriented, meaning I'm not so used to the whole "light electronic steering, light clutch" sort of feel. Pretty much any modern manual car seems that way to me. That being said, I could easily and happily DD a Corolla S.

I wouldn't DD one of these

I'd swap in the 2ZZ motor from the GT-S/XRS/Elise with a 6 speed and about 10 lbs of boost on tap and daily THAT

I also really like the S rims. They make the car stand out A LOT. On this side of the border, we didn't get the new CVT, stuck with the old 4 speed and new 6 speed manual
