You have to love the X-15. Flys at ludicrous speed, then lands on skis and a nose wheel.

I've heard from people who know better than I that Armstrong was the Real Deal—a really unnaturally gifted pilot and engineer.
Seeing the film of him flying that death trap LEM simulator around when it was misbehaving kinda makes me believe it.
