Good on him. Although hearing the engine getting revved while the car rolled back was a bit cringe-worthy. At least I didn't see her stall, so that's good.

That's great. I know my daughter got nervous the first few times she drove my IS 300 (with me in the passenger seat) to school. Do not yell and let them know "if it feels like it's going to shut off, just clutch in. You'll be fine."

Driving manual really well is like being good at maths, it is genetically encoded. We in Europe have it, because we didn't give up on this transmission 60 years ago.

Sounds like she's getting a firm grasp on his stick.

Manual has been in my family for a while. I hate driving automatic cars, despite the only 2 cars I can readily drive are.

Reminds me of a spec campaign I oversaw while in college! Some of it can be seen here: http://adamsheikh.com/advertising

I was wondering when the European elitist would show up.

I gave up after the most insane clutch dump I have ever seen. Was teaching my now-ex on my Audi 4000 FWD and she revved it to the sky and dropped the clutch. Must have been some suspect bolts in the front end because it damn near tore the front suspension out of the car. Instant nose drop.

Sooon there will be no elitism. Only poor people/enthusiasts buy manuals here nowadays. And more or less there are like 10 performance models that come with a manual so even here that thing is a dying breed.

No because cheap cars here come with manuals. In the US even the entry lvl cars have autos, here this is not the case. On the other sepctrum we have the enthusisats that want a manual, but their options are limited by performance versions of said cheap cars, the GT86/BRZ twins which are in the price raing of some hot hatches, but more expensive than in the US. More or less the only expensive cars you can get with manuals are some BMWs, Porsches, AM Vantage V8 and R8 which are both on their dying beds and that is pretty much.
