So I was playing this great racing game this weekend on my Wii virtual console. It is Motoroader that was originally on the turbografx-16 system which o owned 25 years ago.
An idea struck me. What if real racing was like those silly, classic racing games...
"So, how do you feel about your win today, champ?"
"It was rough for a bit. Car #45 dropped some bombs on me, and I hit a couple of those oil puddles. But luckily I hit the power arrows near the end and shot to the front ahead of every one else. Then as I got closer I hit my nitro button and finished first with ease."

Combat Cars for Sega Genesis was one of my first racing games...it was something like this:
"Yeah, I was going pretty well dropping some glue on the track and coasting to the finish until Andre hit me with three consecutive rockets and then Sadie blew by me to steal the win!"
