ABBSjaz's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! got me re-inspired to get off my ass and wax my car. Below I have a list of the parts that I saved in my amazon account some time ago to buy for waxing/cleaning my car. What do you guys think of my selection? Anything you'd do differently? This is for a Tuxedo Black Taurus SHO.

I would recommend the Meguiar's black wax. it gives black paint much more definition. http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/…

Good products overall. Do you need to do any paint correction? On a black car especially, you may have a lot of visible swirls, scratches, marks, etc. If that's the case and you feel comfortable polishing, I'd recommend griot's DA and a good compound and polish - like Adam's, Sonax, etc. First start with the wash, then clay bar and any old wax or sealant removal. Next, go on to your M26. I've leared a lot by watching AMMO NYC's Larry Kosilla youtube videos or on his site - www.ammonyc.com . Makes learning how to polish a lot easier and overall just great tips on what to do, and more importantly what not to do. PS can anyone on here give me publishing rights?? Thanks if you can!

Does your car live inside or out? You'll most likely get recommendations from a 20 step routine to just wash/wax and call it a day. For a DD, quite honestly, a good wash/wax is all you need.
The most important thing on black (any color really, but black definitely highlights any scratches) is making sure whatever you use for application is extremely clean. Towels/pads etc. If they hit the ground, throw em out.
I used to be a detailing whore, but have stepped it down quite a bit. I can't even remember the last time I clayed. One thing I will say is that a good DA polisher (griots, PC) makes quick work of a detail.

Awesome, thanks for the tips! Does the clay bar remove old wax/sealant or is there something I need for that?
Not sure there is any left on my car, lol. When I wash it there is ZERO beading...

My car lives outside ~99% of the time.
As for claybar, I figured I'd need one because there is lot of bugs and other little shit stuck to the front of my car. Should I get bug/tar remover too?

Clay is fine, I just haven't done it in a while. Since I've started using public transit, I drive a lot fewer highway miles and don't have near the contaminants I used to. I'll eventually get to claying the wife's GC, as it's starting to get a little gritty.
I think what you have lined up in your cart is good. Don't get caught up into buying more expensive products than you need. Heck, I used to use NuFinish and my car shined, and the paint didn't oxidize or wilt off the car.
One other thing...use 2 buckets. rinse your sponge/mitt off in one and have clean water in the other. That may be the biggest tip to not scratching up your black paint.
My motto has become: The more you touch your car with products and cloths, the more likely YOU are to induce the scratches/marring that will eventually need correction.

Ooh, I like that two-bucket tip, definitely a smart thing to do.
Someone else recommended to me a wax specifically for black paints that I may use instead of what I have picked out above.

Keep some instant detailer in your trunk so you can keep your paint job deep. Use black detailer twice a year, and a good wash with clay barring and Eagle One Wax-As-U-Dry every other week.

Would you consider the Quik Wax I have listed above an instant detailer?

No problem! The clay will remove containments and may remove some of the wax/sealant but in your case if you know you haven't done anything other than wash the paint in awhile, you'll be fine with just clay. If you did have something on the paint a good product to get it off is Griot's paint prep - takes anything off it safely... or you can simply use Dawn liquid dish soap and water.

Quik wax and instant detailer are actually very different products. Quik wax is good for waxing quickly (although this https://www.eagleone.com/wax-u-dry does the job just as well in half the time). Instant detailer is for keeping your car spotless on-the-go.
